not too sure with the new increase that is due to come in since the last budget but before that it would have been in and around 160 euro, i think the new increase will add around 20 or 30 euro extra

sorry ya thats per month.

you will be due it all back dated, obviously at the old rate until january and then the new rate from then. will cover your mortgage for a month or so.

just out of curiousity did you go for a fixed or variable?

Went for fixed for 2 years. Suffering seeing rates going down. So will we receive a cheque or does it go into the account in my bank which the mortgage comes from, and do they ntify me how much we are due?

i went for the variable on the recommendation of my mother(!) the property magnate and i have been blessed monthly repayments have shot down, i wont tell you how much :D

it goes directly into the account from where your mortgage comes out and the way it works for me is the monthly letter i get from the bank i have my mortgage with shows me the breakdown then i.e.

mortgage = €xxxxx
-tax relief = €xxx

amount due = well you get the idea

One final thing. Any idea how long it takes for the back dated relief to go into account?

i was waiting about 2 months i think.

its money in the bank and the amount you are due means you will essentially get a free months mortgage in the not too distant future.

what recession?!?

this should help

i had a bit of hassle getting mine last year
got the mortgage in feb but got refused twice for TRS
finally got approval for it in november.

it was €2000 for the year so it was just taken off my mortgage for the last 2months of the year, so i only paid normal monthly mortgage - 1000 each month.

think its up to €2500 for the year this year
