Fella by the name of Jim Roddy
Well - he's gone and resigned today to take up a post with Derry City Council.
It's never boring this League...

He's probably had just enough time to realise Bohs are even worse off than he thought they were initially. Derry City Council obviously offers more job security.

Bohs are screwed :)
Honest i don't really care this should be moved to the Bohs section.
I heard its related to the pats betting scandal
I'd see that as a bad sign for Bohs. Either he's not being allowed the control he should be given by the Gerrys, or Bohs really are ****ed
You have to wonder how long it was after getting the Bohs position that he applied for the new job... there can't have been much of a gap there in all fairness.

No, it must have taken a good month or six weeks at least for a council job to be filled. He must have wanted out pretty quickly,

Well, he was worth the two months salary to persuade Nutsy to stay and win us back to back titles.
Best of luck to him in the Public Sector, a good place to be in the depths of a recession.

Bohs fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
I am reliably informed that Roddy only left Bohs as a result of heeding the words of a certain Irish Minister to do the patriotic thing....

I wonder in terms of the job that Roddy is heading to if he knows what he is doing. In regards to how things are done in the North I know for a fact that to help 'clean up' Belfast City centre they used the device of identifying the people who lived in troublesome areas (and this has nothing to do with their political beliefs) and then enticed them to live outside the city by offering better houses and flats with cheaper rates. The centre was then much safer but the trouble makers were just shifted to another town and are currently causing all sorts of rancour in places that were previously regarded as peaceful places to live and grow up in. It is like knocking down a house that is infested with rats and expecting the rats not to show up in the next available house. The regeneration part of any Northern area will not occur without the step above first happening. This is hardly a gallant job for anyone to aspire to, thus to me this shows how bad things must really be under the surface at Bohemians FC.
I await the next Bohs episode - I think this is where the script writers of Lost should research their next series! ;)

I'd be grateful if you could provide any form of source or reference to the claim that Belfast cleared up its city centre through some sort of Orwellian criminal cleansing drive.
If only for the fact that the centre of Belfast has been a ghost town for decades, as no-one really lives there.
I'm also intrigued that you think that the social problems of Northern towns, unrelated to politics, differ so significantly than they do elsewehre in Ireland or in Britain that such drastic measures need to be taken.
In summary - I think you're full of sh!t..... :D

Not getting involved in this one but some councils have been at that for a while now. Basically shuffling people around and causing more damage in the long run. There has been loads of noise made by local councillors about it (and said councillors have been attacked for making noise about it)

[off-topic]only flaw there is that our councils arent really that involved in social housing afaik. they empty the bins and thats about it. its the housing executive (NI-wide) and various housing associations that handle that[/off-topic]
personally think that this is another blow to bohs. no matter what the reason, to have a CEO leave so soon after appointment can only add to whatever other hassles the club is having. did youse ever get rid of that board?

Okay here is just one simple example. All during the Troubles, as that period is apt to be known as, the town of Bangor was a tourist town that was barely touched by any form of conflict. How do I know? I had 2 sisters living there. Then the powers that be decided to build, build and build and ship the riff raff of Belfast out there. Since then the rate of crime has risen dramatically. How do I know this? I have an aunt who worked as a solicitor and another aunt who worked as a social worker in Belfast. They saw in reality what was going on. One of the b*stards they let into the area killed one of my sisters after her living there peacefully for about 20 years. Also may I add it was after the Good Friday agreement so there was no political reason. She is now but a statistic but there have been a lot of others affected in the same place. I will not go on to list the names of other places that have been similiarly affected but don't you dare say that what I say is sh*t.

Scrufil,
No one is downgrading your story but it has absolutely no reference to the job Jim Roddy is taking on(can the mods please split off these threads).
The CCI works in a totally different sphere.
