He was very good for us for a spell but once Kenna arrived he didn't seem to rate him for some reason.
Very quick. Good finisher usually although will miss a few as well. Not the type to link up play but if you could get him a decent target man to work with up front I'd be very surprised if he doesn't do well for ye.
Actually surprised no Premier Division side took a gamble on him.

Ya really cant understand how we let him go.No gufc fans could understand how he was left out so much last season and not rated by Jeff.

Glynn should score bucket loads of goals in the first division, disappointed to see him go.

Best of Luck Daisy - Thanks for all your efforts for us.
Stand out goals were in Inchicore & at home to Shamrock Rovers

He didn't fit into the way we were playing towards the end of last season. Having said that he was our only natural goal scorer.

One of those cases where a new manager comes in and just doesn't seem to rate a player. Seems completely daft to me to let him go though when we probably won't be able to bring too many in. Even if he didn't start many games Daisy's pace would have been invaluable in the last 20 minutes of games against tiring defenders.

Yeah, 8 from 18 starts in the League and 2 in the cup.

why jeff could not see glynn as a natural goalscorer, wont do much else but football is about goals and glynn will score 18 in the first division with longford. I will make a few trips to flancare myself to witness it. A shame we have the supposed luxury of letting him go. I dont care what people say about "how he looked in training" he is the business, best of luck to him

Yer I am sorry he has gone and without a shadow of a doubt he will score goals a plenty in the first division
disappointed to see him go, a bit lazy but always knows where the goals are. unfortunately he didnt want to stay with us rather than us letting him go.

was glynn offered a deal to stay?
All players, at the end of last season, were offered what contracts would be given and none of them accepted at the time. Jeff is back in the office tomorrow morning and we will see hopefully sooner rather than later what happens.

Jeff player Jesper "back to goal" Jorgensen ahead of Glynn all season.
JJ who is a truly appalling donkey of a player.
DG'll bang the goals in and he gives you a great option to get the ball behind the defence with his pace, don't expect too much tracking back though.... but I bet he'll get 15-20 goals so that'll make up for it.
It was a mistake to let him go, we'll struggle for goals next season as our strikers are all good workers but not good finishers.

WE beat ye 3-0. A penalty in the first minute, don't remember who took it, Derek Glynn scored two on the counter attack. Ye were robbed that day. Gary Rogers made some outstanding (and one unbelievable) saves.

now that brings back memories for me:o
I got the impression Ian would have liked to keep him. I'd be surprised if there's a better buy in Division One for next season. Seriously fast, hard worker, will score 20+ goals if he gets off to a good start.

No disrespect but you obviously haven't seen him week in week out because hard working is definitely not one of his things. Can be very lazy if things arent going his way. But he is lightening quick and can finish well with either foot.
He was harshly treated by Kenna and its particularly annoying after what's happened over last few days.
He works best alongside a big man (best partner at Galway was O'Flynn) and I hope he does get 20 goals next year and gets a hat trick against Pats in a cup tie.

personally i don't rate him highly at all.
fair enough he is quick but isn't intelligent enough to use it to it's full benefit. he doesn't make good runs at all and the only time he uses his pace is when the ball comes straight down the middle or if he breaks from around half way with the ball.
his game is limited and as a previous poster says he does appear lazy.
he doesn't have a great touch, no link up play and can drift out of games totally. He is very one dimensional but to his credit he is a good finisher.
Will do well in the first division but he hasn't enough quality for the premier division. Of course the fact we have very few players will mean we miss him at the moment but I don't think he will be too hard to replace.

im delighted to see that he is still highly rated by the majority of ye lads but the next question is who are we going to bring in that will play with him considering darren mckenna wont be with the club next season.
I never got the impression he was lazy but his confidence was probably low at various stages. Yes he would work well alongside a big man.

I´ve played against Derek Glynn a few times and seen him play in the Mayo league a good bit before he joined Galway. I agree with most of what you say. His lightening pace and good finishing are always going to be a threat but he is very one-dimensional. His touch, build-up play, vision and heading are all mediocre. Having said that, given space behind a defence he will run riot. Think he will score plenty if he´s not found out.

Glynn was a strange player. He scored some really good goals but was just as liable to make a mess of the situation. He was definitely a very lazy player which certainly didnt help his cause in any way. Still sorry to see him go though.
