The top of the table eircom League match between Bohemians and Shelbourne will be screened live on Network 2 this Friday. Going into this vital game, Bohemians lead the league by one point with Shelbourne in second place.

Both sides have five games left to play and the result of Friday's game may prove vital in deciding this season's championship race.

George Hamilton will commentate with Sligo Rovers boss Don O'Riordan alongside, while Darragh Maloney will be on the sideline with Ireland senior team manager Brian Kerr.

Top of the table clash which could decide the destination of the title, 4 games from the end of the season. What do they want, a medal. Interesting to hear their explanation now as to why they pulled the Pats-Bohs game the other week, seeing as the official response was that they didn't have the rights!!!!!!

What are you moaning about?
The f*cking sh*te TV station that actually contracted to show live games has ignored it's contract since April the 12th last.

Some good news and the first reply is a moan, typical :D

To be fair to RTE they did a good job with the cup final I thought hopefully they'll do the same for this.

Genius, that.

They're screening it on a Friday when at least 70% of the target audience is off watching their own team.

In fairness RTÉ can't be blamed for when the FAI decide to schedule games. If this was going to be a big televised game, it would have been better off being played on a Sunday.

And there's me just after putting a semi-ranty article about RTÉ showing the eL complete disdain... There's ironic timing for you!:(

Considering they changed the City-Pats at the start of the season to suit TV, I don't see why not this one as it's true about the target audience.
I wonder where this leaves the TV rights of the league then? To cover by any station whenever suits??

It's good that they're showing but, as has already been said, half the people who would watch it will be at games tomorrow night.

This will be RTE's fifth time showing el/FAI cup matches this season. TV3 who everyone seems to think are committed to the el have only shown one and given us a poorly prepared weekly highlights package which they broadcast at the worst possible time (late monday night). I still think that BOTH stations should be giving a lot more coverage though.

Amazingly RTE must have better rep on the eL now than tv3.

Tv3s coverage has not improved from the first edition of eL weekly & they really need to try harder!

They're screening it on a Friday when at least 70% of the target audience is off watching their own team. The last one got 190,000 viewers. There'll be maybe 10,000 at other games today. That's about 5% and not all of them would have watched the game in the first place so it's not a major loss for RTE.

Take everything good that was said about RTEngland back..... Apparently they wanted the league to pay a substantial 5 figure sum for them to cover the match!?!?!?!

And this is without any advertising money coming the other way!

The attitude of "our" national broadcaster goes from bad to worse.......

It's time the league seriously looked into getting a channel on a digital platform and have an eL channel... I mean FFS, if we're having to pay to have games broadcast, we should at least get to see the advertising revenue.....

Yeah, that's ridiculous alright. To cover expenses is the official line - what are the ads and the licence fee for?!?! Absolute joke.

Also a story in today's papers about upheavel in the FAI (surprise...) - people wanting the league to move more under the FAI's control and less under Brendan DIllon's control. Anyone know anything more about that?
