Lennon said on the Daily Huddle last night that Celtic are interested.

"He is a player we've been keeping an eye on.

"Whether or not a deal gets done is still to be determined. We're hopeful maybe we can get him in.

"Willo played very well against us a fortnight ago. He can pass the ball and is a very fit boy who can play right side or central.

"We do lack a bit on the right-hand side. If you take Naka out of the team, you are looking at maybe Scott Brown to play that role.

"But we're loathe to put Brownie out there because he is playing so well centrally.

"Willo might fill that position."

Would he have a good chance of getting a game though? Someone on here posted that they offered 100,000 quid for him. He wouldn't command a very high salary either. That's very small money even for Celtic so there would be a risk of them just trying him out and if he doesn't work out being happy enough to let him rot away it the reserves or on the bench.

a bit off topic but I take it that McCourt isn't getting a look-in with Celtic then? Shame that...

Few appearances on the bench, only played in 2 games so far. Grand total of 4 minutes of playing time

Flood was excellent against Celtic tonight. One Messi-like one-two with a player before beating Celtic defender and hitting a shot wide.

I was just looking at old Willo Flood threads to refresh the memory. This is interesting:
http://foot.ie/showthread.php?t=34756

A few people, including Stuart Pearce, thinking he had a really good game.

Me:
" I didn't think he had a great game on Saturday but that's maybe down to the high standards he has set when I've seen him before."

I'd put him back in contention for the Ireland squad. Pity he's so small but he doesn't lack strength and has played right back quite a few times.

Everton confirm first signing of the transfer window (but don't get too excited) (http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2009/01/29/everton-confirm-first-signing-of-the-transfer-window-but-don-t-get-too-excited-115875-21079782/)

Everton boss David Moyes is finally breaking his transfer window duck - by signing Republic of Ireland Under-21 rightback Seamus Coleman in a £150,000 deal.
Moyes has beaten Celtic, Birmingham and Ipswich to win the chase for the 20-year-old Sligo Rovers defender.

The Daily Record says that Newcastle have made a bid for McManus, hope that deal goes through and paves the way for O'Dea to get a place in the starting 11 at Celtic.

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/2009/01/26/newcastle-make-bid-for-celtic-captain-stephen-mcmanus-86908-21072849/

Unlikely to happen IMO (Celtic captain and we are not as strapped for cash as Rangers who have to make a sale this window). O'Dea is currently 4th choice CB behind loovens and Caldwell, so he still has some work to do.

Blackpool sign Man City teenager (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/b/blackpool/7858063.stm)

Championship side Blackpool have signed Manchester City midfielder Paul Marshall on a one-month loan deal.
The 19-year-old has featured regularly for City's reserves this season and could make his Tangerines debut against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Blackpool assistant boss Steve Thompson told the club's website: "Every time we have seen him play, he has impressed.
"I am sure he will do well and we will be looking to extend the loan until the end of the season."
He added: "He has a sweet left foot and an excellent range of passing, he has a presence in the middle of the park."
Could be good exposure for Paul. Looks a very accomplished young central midfielder from the highlights of man city reserves I've seen.

Incidentally, if the transfer goes though, it will mean that Celtic will be able to put out a team, with 10 outfield players all fitting the "creative midfielder" description

Because the keeper got sent off and someone had to sacrificed but still....
You'd be disappointed.

Don't think this has been mentioned yet but Richie Foran has moved on a free to Inverness. Played against Celtic yesterday.

Re. Ian Harte

A bit surprised to hear that because I heard some commentater say that he was having a very good game for them a week or two ago.
It might be a case of clubs trying to save every pound

I wonder are Stoke building up a side with at least one eye on the Championship, Beattie, Etherington, McCann would be good in the Shampinship and they wont lose them in the Summer.

What would Jim White and Brian Swanson be like if they actually covered something important. I think if Messi joins Rangers Jim White will come in his pants.

interesting move alright, getting first team football can only be good for the lad....
I watched the Celtic Inverness game on Sunday and his first touch was absolutely dreadful in the 10 or so minutes he was on the pitch, hopefully was only due to rustiness more than anything...

Although the January window is effectively closed and permanent deals are no longer possible clubs will still be able to sign players on emergency loan from next week.

This could be important with Owen Coyle keen to bring in another defender on loan. Celtic's Darren O'Dea is believed to be his target but we shall see what happens on that score.
