mine would be Aifric, with the panel well back in the day and podge and rodge pushing it a close second.

Probably 'Reeling in the years' but I guess that shouldn't really count.
Why not? I'd probably go for the same show to be honest.
Also Who Do You Think You Are? was very good.
And that Hidden History series was excellent, specially the Cromwell one.
In fact, an awful lot of home produced factual stuff is very well done. It's mainly just when they try and do sitcoms that RTE make a show of themselves.
I'm not sure of the definition of home produced, but wasn't Who do you think you are? a BBC show originally?
Other than that, we do do factual well.

Didnt like the Who Do You Think You Were show , maybe it was the sight of RTE presenters talking ****e?
But The Hidden History show is brill - the one they did about the guys who escaped from Tasmania was excellent, amongst other great shows they did

It certainly was, still is in fact, and the most recent BBC series had some of the best episodes yet with Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen and Ainsley Harriot.
But I'm pretty sure the RTE series could be considered home produced, even if from a copied idea. That phrase is surely only defined by the company that makes the show for broadcast, not what company initially did it?
If not, cheerfully withdrawn, there's plenty of other very good shows to choose!

Seeing as 'Reeling in the Years' does count I'll throw 'Scannal' and the aforementioned 'Hidden History' into the mix. I think RTE factual programmes tend to be good.

You might be right there, I must admit I missed the Charlie Bird and specially the Joe Duffy one. That might have coloured my judgement somewhat! :D
Linda Martin's one was surprisingly not as bad as may have been expected.
Maybe I'm nit-picking on the home produced thing.
Ah no, fair comment. I would argue it still counts, but could see the logic of not including it.

I'm gonna be slated for this, but Dan & Becs was an interesting bit of television. The only occasion where RTÉ got the comedy right imo.

My Fav easily would have to be Paths To Freedom, still very funny now.

Agree with Scannal, Reeling In The Years and MNS, all top shows.
Can't think of any others at the moment.

Hands
Father Ted is not home produced. It would be like saying Braveheart was an Irish movie.

Two Irish men thought of the Idea and pitched it to several companies, they then became two main producers. It has a mostly Irish cast and shot in a lot of Irish locations. Don't think it should be rule out just because they used a British company's money

The first series of "Proof" was a pretty good stab at a decent drama series. Second one was a bit tired but alright.
Also Who Do You Think You Are? was very good.
I thought it was poor compared to the UK version - amazing how all the celebraties had to get a nice trip out of it somehow as well.
Scannal is worth catching, but I'd struggle beyond that really. Some of the documentaries are well produced, but too much bias really - a general problem with RTE imo (too much from the FFactual dept.)
