View Full Version : PFAI Believes Drogheda Can Remain in Premier
Drogman.

I understand you were replying to another poster and making other points during your post. But I have to comment on your separate sentence.
Drogheda Utd. have gone to the High Court so they may avoid paying the Debts that are before them in the agreed way. DUFC wish to 'move the goalposts','reach a new compromise with their creditors (fudge?)'. They have continued a conversation with Meath and Louth County Council regarding decisions already made to their determent, 'not living in the present'.
Please don't drag the Licensing decision-making process into the individual decisions DUFC have made at this time. Nobody could touch DUFC for 70 days, now 30 days.
DUFC will have an opportunity to put their case to the licensing decision-makers, do not attempt to denegrate their efforts while they patiently wait for decisions of the High Court which DUFC are able to influence. By going to the High Court, DUFC take the lead in the decision-making process.
Licensing can't talk about you, it is foolish for you to talk about licensing in an
derogatory manner.
With all due respect, I've read through the documentation on licencing, cover to cover. I know what is required to apply for a licence for A Championship, First Div or Premier status and even though everything in it makes sense as regards what should be setup, the reality is that clubs like DUFC and many others simply cannot adhere to some of the requirements.
Like most things, it looks great on paper, but in practice it can't work at this present time.

I can see where Pineapple is coming from. Clubs who cannot meet the criteria should be banished to somewhere where they can still exist and attempt, no matter how slowly, to get their house in order rather than disappear altogether. It remains to be seen if a team can drop down to the A Championship and be viable though, particularly with the very short season.
It could become a longer than expected season in the A Championship though if they did that to many of the clubs in difficulty ...

GTF!!! Seriously, you're talking absolute ****e if you think Shels had any case. IN reality the FAI treated shels very lightly (as witnessed by the resignation of the licensing chairman)
It's clear you hate Shels Dodge but for the record Shels came to agreements with all their creditors and paid revenue in full and were still demoted.
If the same rules still apply then Cork Drogheda Cobh Finn Harps and Bray should be demoted.
Of course that is not going to happen..

Why, what have Harps done? Yes, the agreed a deferral with their players, but every one of them has received the wages which were deferred at the end of the season.

When are you handing back that league title that you won with your unfair advantage?

That league title means nothing to me.
If the FAI were to rule against it then so be it!
At this stage it's unlikely and I'm not sure under what rule they could do that.
These days they do have rules regarding non payment to players and I suppose could impose points deductions for that offense but then we'd have deductions for Cork Cobh Finn Harps Bray Drogheda Athlone Kildare and probably more.
Simple facts are tiktok that the same rules applied to Shels are no longer being applied to other clubs. Considering the rules that were brought in after the Shels case it's strange to say the least.

Cork City, Longford, Shamrock Rovers and Drogheda United were all docked points for their various financial difficulties and false returns, you were never docked points.
Cork City were docked points for going into examinership, that was our punishment, we've already taken it and gotten on with it. We emerged successfully from examinership [that our creditors got screwed isn't within the scope of the licensing committee's brief to rule on]. We currently owe backpay in the hundreds of thousands, but we have until Jan 31st to pay it, if we do pay it, we'll get our licence.
I get that you're feeling hard done by, for whatever reason, but it's getting very repetitive at this stage.

Take that to its logical conclusion though - if you don't get a licence, what happens? Do you sit outside football until you get everything sorted? How are you meant to sort your problems while you effectively don't exist?
then you must play in the A cham where the requiremnet is not there until you can comply with licensing otherwise why have it

Fair enough. (And if you look back at my previous posts on Drogheda and Cork, that's my suggestion too).
But then there's a gap in the First with no A Team to fill it.

Ah jeez do really read over what you type before posting?
Its all boo hoo lets pity Shels, they were a model club but because the League and everyone involved in it hates ye they made up new rules just to p!ss you off.
Finn Harps deffered the players wages, the players were in agreement with the club and all money has been paid back, no drama in that department.
I can't speak for other clubs as I don't know their situation.

Ive got to say this and proberly setting myself up for a hammering but this phrase of deffering payments as if its some kind of buisness speak when in reality is not been able to met its financial obligations while players have very little real say in it.

You're a creditor, you'll get the same % as the other unsecured creditors.
If they haven't paid for him I don't see why they should hold his registration though, Sligo should be challenging this and expecting him for pre-season training.
[QUOTE=tiktok;1076433]If, as an unsecured creditor, you agree to accept the % that DUFC will offer, then payment of that % will settle the transfer fee. That'd be my understanding of it, I don't think the High Court would allow you status as a preferential creditor over the revenue or the others DUFC owe money to.[/QUOT
It has nothing to do with the court .Wages and Football related debts (Transfer Fees,Affiliation Fees & Fines) are sacrosanct in the licencing process.

Kildare can fill it if they are successful in their application.
We were, seemingly, instructed by the league to apply for a first division licence.
BTW at the moment there are no clubs in any division.
All clubs are rated or seeded by the league position after the final day. Licencing can alter the positions.
We are currently rated #23.

Well thats great. Except I asked you to "Please elaborate on how exactly he is a "Mercenary". Not "Please copy and paste the definition of a mercenary".
You might want to read posts fully before you reply to them in future. Or even better, try and be able to back up the nonsense you post.

You're right, the licencing should look at the situation between clubs alright, but is the next level of challenging licensing to bring the Licencing Committee to the Hight Court. Back to the venue where successful examinerships were heard.
Kildare can fill it if they are successful in their application.

Back on topic - am I the only one who says 'so what' when the PFAI express a view on whether or not Drogheda can survive ?
Seriously - how intimate is their knowledge of Drogheda's circumstances ? On what substance is their view based ?
It may as well have said 'man in street says Drogheda United will be ok'.

Where have I said different? Even on this very thread I've said that Drogs should be treated the same way as Shels (if they have outstnading wages due)

Not saying you didn't Dodge.
Everyone seems to be in agreement that Shels were correctly demoted. I agree we should have been demoted by the way.
However!
There's a lot of talk here about Jan 31st deadlines and having agreements in place by then. It's annoying that people feel that they can mess up as bad as they like for 364 days of the year but once you have everything right on 31st Jan you're ok!
That's not the way it should work in my opinion.
The clubs I've already mentioned have done the exact same as Shelbourne. In fact Cork and Drogheda have taken it a step further by wiping debts!! Legal as it may be they did gain an unfair advantage and will carry that advantage into next season.

Again, I can only speak for Harps in this regard, but the deferral was done with the FULL AGREEMENT of the players. They agreed to the deferral with the guarantee that all monies would be paid at the end of the season. They received all deferred monies once the season had ended - as agreed between the players and the club. Granted, it's not the ideal situation but it was done in consultation and with agreement of the players.
BTW there's absolutely nothing in the rules about sanctions for clubs who cut wages
