Can anyone please tell me is there an Irish Spelling for Mervue United (Merbhú Aontaithe?) What is the origin of the name Mervue?

Thanks Patrick. From that answer then I think the name comes from the French/Latin basis Mer (sea) and Vue (view). I wasn't sure if it was that or an actual name of someone famous who lived in Galway. Interestingly enough there is a place in Athlone called Marine View and it also translates as Radharc na Mara.

Looks like two buses minimum travelling from Athlone on Friday and if you include all that might possibly drive down we could have 200+ supporters there
Ye could out number the home support !

I reckon there will be a sizable home crowd. The whole novelty factor. Also I reckon they will sell quite a few season tickets. Mervue is and has always been well funded by the local community.
On another note I saw in the Sentinel this week that Mervue are running a bus to the game from the Mervue clubhouse!! Is there any other club in the league that runs a bus to their home games?

We will be running free buses from the west side of town to our ground for a 4 week trial period this season. If it is a success we will continue it.

Yeah the good side;)
Will be decided at meeting tomorrow night. I would say starting in Monksland and through the town from there.

Danny Drew era Limerick used to run some free buses in from the county. I think it was four different routes. A couple bombed, a couple did quite well. Scheme was abandoned for some reason further down the line.

That ain't the good side of town. I married the woman on that side and its brought me nothing but strife since!:(
Anyway the only bus I'll be taking this week will be to Terryland Park where Athlone Town will open their account with an away win against Mervue United!!!

Every team has to produce a programme
I was contacted the other day for our squad so I would take it that there is some sort of match programme
