Which clubs are bringing out new ones? Post pics here too if you have any of them.

We're not changing the home one but we are changing the away kit.

Hopefully we will be keeping the home one and changing the away.

Just waiting on the sponsor to confirm whether they are continuing their sponsorship of the club.

I don't think the Galway away shirt is all that bad, but the maroon and sky blue crest totally clashes with the green and blue stripes. The Rival gear looks a bit cheap, has Leeson signed a deal with Strider to provide boots?

We've two years left on our contract with Umbro (I think/hope), and are due a new home and away this season. Expect something black and white from the 2008/09 Umbro templates.

Our home and away will stay the same but we are supposed to be having a 25year anniversary kit during the year

LeixlipRed

Is it 25 years? Franchise football at it's best ;) I would imagine our new jersey will be fairly similar just with the new sponsor rather than old.

micls

Is it 25 years?

Yep, the longest lasting Cork club.

Crazy really

Remember the late 80`s/early 90`s cork top, white with jagged lines of red, white and green across the top half ?

I lived in the uk during this time, and it was sold in a sports shop in the town i lived in - it became a real cult top to wear for some reason- was amazing seeing so many of them around - and everyone of them was english with no irish connections !

You might wanna rephrase that because as regards Cork clubs in league football.

Cobh Ramblers is 87 Years old come January 2009 and also come March Cobh will celebrte their 24th Year in league football.

micls

Well yeah, I meant longest lasting in the league.

Obviously there are plenty of clubs in Cork around longer

Like the new home shirt. The third looks good too. But the away shirt isn't my liking.

The reason might have been the Sultans were reasonably big around that time, and Morty would have worn that jersey on stage sometimes.

... Morty would have worn that jersey on stage sometimes.

Around the time he lost his jumper? It was a cracking jersey, alright, very similar to the West Germany shirt (Cork colours + GUINNESS sponsor), might have had something to do with its popularity.

Was talking to someone who was at the launch of the United kit, he heard store manager tell someone the away jersey is outselling the home one!

Bright green and bright blue stripes! on telly that'll look like cheap fuzzy 1970s special effects! Who designed that? and did he leave the guide dog at home that day?
Oh well I suppose we won't have to wear it that often... what with Ramblers gone down and the Drogs... well gone entirely....

Could that not have to do with a lot of GUFC fans already having a claret home jersey already and don't see too much difference between this one and last seasons?

WoodquayBoy
08/12/2008, 5:42 PM
It could, but it is also assuming United fans have no taste, and I'd like to think we have

Galway's kit, who are Rival? Never heard of them. The logo for O'Connell's Drycleaning ;) looks a bit dodgy too. Probably a cheap option. The home looks alright actually. Shame about the away.

Rival are Elverys own Company the soccer wing of Rugbytech. They are doing a wide range of Leisurewear and have as much GUFC Gear in their 3 Galway Stores as any English premier team. Best Kit Deal ever done by GUFC over 150 people at the launch today.

I thought they were, but I've since read that they're still in Tolka next year.
