I'd just like to wish Jason Hughes all the best for the coming wk.. Jason is flying out tomorrow morning for a trial with birmingham city. He is going straight into the reserve game tomorrow night. On Saturday he will play with the underage team in a friendly & on monday he will train with the full team.. A tough few days lie ahead for him but I hope he makes a good impresion over there and gets some sort of a contract out of it... A fantasic player who will and should make it across the water..

all the best to him...would the 'dines not be entitled to a percentage of a transfer if he signs??
afaik they are,as he played all his schoolboys with them...
Whoever he played with up to the age 23 would be entitled to something. (if he's 23 or younger)

A post in the thread below says he has a two year contract signed with Limerick so if he goes to Birmingham it can only mean good for Limerick.

As he is under contract to Limerick then if he is to move anywhere the club will command a fee. A percentage of this will obviously go to Geraldines who he played his schoolboy football with.
I hope he makes a sensible move when and if he does decide to go. He is an obvious talent, and seems a pretty level headed young fella. If he does go, lets hope its for the long run and not another sad story of a young lad trying his luck only to find it not as promising as he thought.
Best of luck Jason.:ball:

Yes L37 knew what they were doing when they offered him sign a 2 year deal.. He nearly made it last year over the water when he went to Hull.. Best of luck Jason

I too wish Jason the best.He was a privilage to watch last season. It would be great for Limerick FC as a few bob would go a long way for next season. AFAIK he's doing his leaving Cert next year and i've been told that any deal would include allowing him to finish his studies, that might mean we could have him till July. Hope he makes the right choice.

there's alot of good players in limerick coming through. hopefully the proper structure be put in place to retain these players instead of losing to rugby or gaelic games etc. the school boy element of limerick football has to be better addressed then it was for the last few years. best of luck to jason and his hopefully new adventure. be great if he got into team instead of keith fahey..

Thats good to hear. what way would they be looking at him i wonder, as a reserve player with the possibilty of breaking into the first team or as an underage player for them for the time being?

I'd say underage and working his way up.He's got another game over the weekend and he'll also train with the first team before his trial finishes.

Great player, nice chap and I had the pleasure of managing him at schoolboy level.
Under 14's with the Dines when he was only 11/12 years old and even then he stood out against boys 2/3 years older than him.
Best of luck Jason, hope all goes well for you.
Also hope the Dines do well from this deal, as they put in a lot of time and effort with him.

Fairplay to Jason.
One of the best young players I've seen pass through our ranks.
Sends out a really good message to a lot of the Junior players around town aswell about what can be achieved if you're willing to make the step up and put in the effort.
Hope it goes well for him. :ball:

Good one! :)
I've got a source in Birmingham keeping an eye out for him ;)
He was either Trialist A, B, C or D at a reserve game the other night, my source was unsure which one though :o

fearful that he might lose out on a gig here, by sending constant **** over to Reading like Myler, Bennett etc, fat pat has now entered the frame. let the bidding begin:D

No he must be the groundsman, sounds more like the seating arrangement at St Andrews to be honest...
Trialist A,B,C or D... What a load of @rse

But there was only four triallists so it couldn't have been E,F, G etc.. ;)

Myler went to Sunderland. And give him a chance. He's only there a few months and he's only a young fella.

Perhaps all sarcasm could take a back seat on this thread and give the lad the respect and credit he deserves. :ball:
