NO, but he acted like he should be playing for Brazil, really ruffled a lot of feathers before retiring from Ireland, was not a loss to us at all.

In his early 20's, Carr was one of the best right-backs in the Premier League. He had that awful injury in 2001 and unfortunately went downhill from there. It's a shame, because he should have been a bigger player (no pun intended) than he was. Luckily though, he wasn't a huge loss because we had Finnan.

Developed a hatred for this man over the past few years, always thought he was a bit of a mouthpiece. My fondest memory of him was at the City Of Manchester Stadium where in possibly the worst game of football I've ever attended he took a throw-in and the ball never even made it onto the pitch.

I never figured out why Kerr preferred Carr to Finnan all those years. Good luck to him.

He and Ian Harte should have signed on with a League of Ireland team going to the Champions League next season. Would have been a great story and given the league a bit of a kick-start.

dont know where to start with this one...

1) we (Irish teams) cant afford them
2) theyre probably not good enough any more to make an impact
3) youre overestimating the "soccer mad" irish person. They would pay to watch em on Sky Sports but they wouldnt pay to watch em live. That live

He was our Sebastian Daisler, world class prior to the injury (and hair cut) and then slipped away as a decent player. What an outstanding player in his prime.

Turned in his best performances for club rather than country.

I was never convinced of him as the answer for Ireland at full back for the duration of his career.

he played very well against portugal, and im thinking against holland too.

But he always always looked like giving away penalties either with his hand or dragging, i could not beleive the amount of times he didnt give away penatlies with all his pulling and dragging!

Scored a few screamers for Tottenham long go. Pure brutal for 95% of his career. some knacker head on him, lovely tan tho

As per previous comment, he scored some wonderful goals for Spurs. The ones against Sunderland and Man utd stick in my mind. Many Spurs had Carr sown as one of their best full backs of all time. He never regained full fitness after the injury he suffered while at spurs and as a result he was a shadow of him former self at Newcastle.

Good Pro I didn't like his attitude to Ireland to be honest. Always sulking & moaning. No that good a pro in that context.
