Media Statement from the eL office:
The eircom League has today (October 21st) announced that a revised fixture schedule for the remainder of the 2003 Premier Division season was agreed at a special meeting of its Management Committee last night (October 20th).
A number of changes were necessary in order to facilitate this revised programme.

Seven outstanding Premier Division fixtures were rescheduled, namely Bohemians v Derry City, Bohemians v Longford Town, Derry City v Bohemians, Shelbourne v Bohemians, Shamrock Rovers v St Patrick's Athletic, St Patrick's Athletic v Drogheda United and St Patrick's Athletic v Longford Town.

One scheduled fixture, Shelbourne v Drogheda United, has been moved from its original date of Tuesday November 4th to Monday November 17th. This is in addition to the Shamrock Rovers v Bohemians fixture which was brought forward from Monday November 3rd to this Friday, October 24th. This was agreed at last Thursday's meeting of representatives of the Premier Division clubs. This fixture was announced on Friday last, October 17th.

A further two upcoming fixtures - Derry City v Shelbourne and Shamrock Rovers v Shelbourne were also re-arranged and agreed at the meeting. Derry City's home game against Shelbourne will now take place on Saturday October 25th, kick-off 7.30pm, having originally been scheduled for this Thursday, October 23rd. Shamrock Rovers' home game against Shelbourne which was scheduled to take place next Monday, October 27th will now take place on Tuesday October 28th, kick-off 7.45pm.

The revised programme was agreed by all eircom League clubs after all options had been explored at the meeting and following consultation between those clubs directly involved in the above mentioned fixtures.

As a result of the revised programme of fixtures being agreed, it will not be necessary to extend the 2003 season. However, the final weekend series of Premier Division fixtures will now take place on Sunday November 30th rather than Friday November 28th.

Welcoming the announcement, eircom League Chairman Brendan Dillon said:
"I would like to thank all 22 eircom League clubs for their co-operation in agreeing the revised fixtures schedule. Concluding the season without the need for a costly and inconvenient extension came about thanks to the clubs working together with the eircom League to agree a solution which did not previously exist."
