How they chose the top 100.
http://fourfourtwo.com/blogs/fourfourtwoview/archive/2008/11/05/how-we-decided-on-the-100-best-players.aspx

A few reasons why I think it's an absolute joke of a list.

1) Casillas is 4th but Buffon is out at 19!

2) Kaka is only 5th. IMO he's the best, at the very least in the top 3.

3) Poulsen(82) is not better than Chiellini (85). He's also not better than Sissoko who doesn't make the list.

4) The presence of Bosingwa, Cazorla and Keita is bizarre.

Ronaldo is not the best player in the world. Its virtually impossible to compile a list of the best players in the world, its so subjective. I'd have Lampard ahead of Gerrard for one. Ferdinand no.9 & Vidic no.34 other way around surely.

Arshavin ahead of Deco, I'm sorry no.

No chance. Over the past two seasons Ferdinand has been United's best player.

Lampard and Gerrard shouldn't be in top 50, maybe 100 too.

Where is Shay Given. I would have him there any day.

Lists like these are nonsense.

You can say Top 100 players for Season 07-08 alright, and at that Ronaldo would have to be number one.

But anyone who thinks Ronaldo is better than Kaka or Messi is talking nonsense

Messi is the best player in the world in my opinion by the by

What a load of nonsense.
Scholes 95th?
Mascherano made the list what the hell??? Diarra is better than him. Most over rated player in the world. Cant pass the ball two yards.

Always love how outraged some people get by these lists.

Oh and Iniesta is a top ten player easily. Sham, mockery etc etc etc etc ;)

I think Ronaldo and Evra would have something to say about that!!! :D

as Dodge said take with a pinch of salt.......
but - Ronnie at 70 - funny how things change!
Surely an awesome talent like Benzema should be higher up the table ( i am really excited about this player -:))
Luca Toni on this list - ha ha ha ha ha ha ha - and Del Piero??
Evra and Vidic should be in top 20
Senna is the best Spanish player IMHO and 100 billion times better than Ramos (who always needs someone to cover for his mistakes)
Ballack in the top 20 - ha
Ibrahimovic in the top ten!!!
And i would have Messi as the best in the world at present:)

Del Piero is still one of the top players in the world at 34. He's been immense for Juve in the CL this year. I haven't seen enough of Serie A to see how he's doing there.

They probably are the 100 top players in the world, it's just the order that'll **** people off.

For instance, I'd have Ribery, Buffon and VDV further up the list, to name a few.

The positions of some players are completely wrong, Ramos at 20th, he should be at 5000th for example, I never really take lists like these seriously, but how can you compile a list of the 100 best, Every person has there own thoughts and thats what counts.

Whatever you say I know you haven't seen Juve play recently. Del Piero has been immense for the last couple of seasons. He was top scorer in Serie A last year. He's one of the top scorers in the CL so far this year. One of the best players in the world.

If the likes of Huntelaar and Forland can make the list no reason why Keane shouldnt be on it.

Will probably get laughed at for saying it, but I would have Doyle ahead of Forlan and a few other players on that list

That's different because it is (supposedly) based purely on form in 2008.
