Mathews reveals “Taggart” threat
Longford Town manager Alan Mathews has joked that someone may have needed to contact Taggart – one of television’s favourite sleuths – had St Patrick’s Athletic found a dramatic late equaliser in Sunday’s FAI Carlsberg Cup final.
Longford won the competition 2-0 following a first half goal from Sean Francis and an injury time Shane Barrett tap-in, scored when Saints keeper Chris Adamson was left stranded upfield after contesting a late Pats corner.
