fully deserved, only worry is how much we'll miss him.

surely the two lads can play on friday night if they havent played the full 90mins against italy. I cant see them doing that.

sorry, I was just thinking ahead to the u-20 world cup in november. we could lose both of them for the tail-end of the season which would be a blow.

open to correction but i thought that the U20 WC games didn't start until the first week in December
Fair play to Kev for the call up, he should be ok for the friday game i reckon.

eL season supposed to finish last weekend of November but would be reasonable to assume u-20 squad be training together 2-3 weeks before the tournament starts which would also include acclimatisation...

Doyler is starting for Ireland tonight, Kearney is on the bench.

Saw some of the Italian team walking around Dublin today, they all seem very tall, Kearney will have fun if he gets on.

Doyle earns call-up

Under-20s call up for Cork City's Kevin Doyle

Republic of Ireland Under-20s manager Gerry Smith has called Cork City's Kevin Doyle into his squad for the friendly international against Italy at Belfield tomorrow (Wednesday) night (kick-off 7. 30 p.m.)

Doyle gets the call as Tottenham Hotspur have withdrawn Mark Yeates as he is needed for first team involvement with the White Hart Lane club.

Yeah and that's how it finished.

2-0 with goals coming from Super Kevin Doyle and I think some guy called Bell.

Dolyer played the first half and scored a good goal, he played very well. Had a good few runs, and played an excellent pass for the 2nd goal.

Kearney came on and got some excellent crosses into the box with his left leg and turned defenders a few times to get in excellent crosses with his right too.

The two city players played excellently and I'd say we'll lose them both for the end of the season.

Kearney was good on the left. I didn't see too much of Doyle in the first half because I was down the other end but he took his goal well.

I don't think we'll lose either of them for a while to be honest.

It's great to hear that they both did well, Kearney really seems to be hitting a run of form at the moment, and a goal from super kev after a late call up. Let's hope he keeps it going against Bohs.

Sorry Tiktok I mean that they'll be with the U-20 squad that goes to the UAE, they wont be around to play the end of the season with City if they are called up.

Kearney has been a regular for this side all the way up and Doyler was prased by Smith today in the Indo (I think).

How many games are we talking?
That would be a disaster alright...

from citynet:

The Cork City duo will be hopeful of a call-up to Ireland’s squad, who have been drawn in Group E along with the Ivory Coast, Mexico and Saudi Arabia. The eircom League season ends on November 28th, one day before Ireland’s opener against Saudi Arabia.

would it be dangerous to presume the fai would send the lads out a week or more before the match?

Think i heard they got some deadly (been in dublin too long) Genesis Report that means things like that will never happen again.

clears it up a bit, I assume there'd be at least a fortnight's worth of acclimatisation. could miss the last three games i reckon (a particular loss for shels on the 21st).
