.....but since Christmas was mentioned elsewhere in threads already I felt safe(ish) to do this.

Wondering if there will be a social gathering to celebrate the season of jolliness this year for the foot.iers?

Last year was such fun that I hoped we could do similar again this year?

Any ideas, suggestions or volunteers to organise something?

If it was somewhere reasonably close to either Athlone or Limerick I would definitely go. How about Shamrock Lodge in Athlone. Could arrange a special rate for you all:cool:

Wouldn't be able travel too far due to the amount I have been away this season with Athlone plus have end of season bash this weekend, players weekend away next weekend and then the Soccer Writers bash in the Hilton Dublin on December 4th.

If I ask for anymore nights away i will be homeless:D

I was actually going to start a thread for this at the weekend.
Because of the way a few things have worked out, I'm only free the weekend of the 5th December, if that doesn't suit, count me out

I more than likely can attend similar to last year, though not in the same place..

Where was it last year?

PS I can't go, even if it is held in my sitting room. Two kids under 3, busy at work, and I am heading to Belfield on Friday so my brownie points are diminished.

Bogger bar and then on to Copper Face Jacks last year, although myself, Bluebeard and Kingdom Hoop got lost along the way after the pub if memory serves me correctly (which it probably doesn't)

Yup, being old and wise in the ways of Dublin we avoided Coppers like the plague that it is.

Sadly I cannot make this year's unless it is in Waterford on the 23rd.

Unless someone is arsed to sort a London meet...

My new favourite bar in the whole world is not far from Flannery's and despite having an irish name, Anseo, it is a really nice spot. Bit small though.

Ach Bluebeard!!! Will have to fly to London to slap your ar*e for not coming to it.

As long as they sell nice beer, there are not too many posers about and we can chat over the music I am happy.

God I sound old.

Did you call one another by your real names?

I can just see Magicme shuffling into Hogans and approaching strange men:

"Hi, are you Bluebeard?"
"I'll be anyone you want, honey."

;)

Wouldnt happen, but only coz I know Bluebeard!

We introduced ourselves by our online names and then followed up with real ones but I could just about remember the online ones!!

We could wear name tags! Would help the double vodka addled brain problem out.

6th of December is still my suggestion

Magicme
26/11/2008, 4:01 PM
Yeah that kinda works for me. There is a protest march for the schools on that day and might go to it and then stay up.

Any other suggestions or does the 6th suit everyone?

Magicme

You should try getting them to meet up to actually play football, Magicme. If anything might work, this little trick could:

LADS, I HEAR THAT THERE IS A FREE DRINKS PROMOTION ON IN THE (name pub) ON THE 6TH FOR ANYONE TURNING UP IN A LEAGUE OF IRELAND SCARF.

I don't think that many from the board will show, but you can be guaranteed that a whole plethora of folk will turn up wearing LOI scarves that they just bought on Ebay from disgusted Kildare Co and Dublin City fans. Then you can decide what to name them, and if TCM turns up, he can see a variation of the scenario he suggested earlier...

Hmm I can think of one place on Georges Street where even that wouldn't entice the foot.ie massive.

Good idea. However, if I go I'd be devastated to find you looking rather normal instead of the bearded pirate Bluto-esque figure I have in mind when I see your posts.

And Ash sticks it away nicely..I was wondering who'd be the first to say Hogan's/Ri-Ra.
