Andy Reid (Nottm Forest) 6 goals in 13 league matchs,
thats the same number of league goals as David Connelly,
and more than Duff too. His strike is almost 1 in 2 league matchs
about the same as Keanes 2 goals in 4 (+ one as sub)~4.5?
OK its 'only' the First Division but Reid is 'only' a winger.
(left wing, perhaps unfortunatley)
I doubt any winger has a better stike rate in the Premiership or
First Division, although I would not put my mortgage on it
(well maybe 90% of it).
He also supplies a glut of goals for Forest too.
Well worth a looks at for the first team, thats *first team* not
just the squad.
If he had been in the first team Ireland may well have qualified.
(In my opinion, for what it's worth, nothing, no doubt).
Log on to the Forest site and read the match report versus the
albeit 'not very good' (am I allowed to swear) Wimbledon, if
you need and futher convincing. :D

"A beautiful high cross from Reid fell for.."
"Reid’s shot was blocked by Gier"
"Reid ran in to try again but Heald managed to get to the ball first"
"to Reid who made the run down the left. He put in an inch perfect
cross to Harewood’s feet and he crashed the ball past the keeper"
"Reid produced a sliding finish to put the ball in the back of the ne"
"Reid created a chance early in the second half"
"Reid created another chance when he broke on the right and beat two men"
"Taylor got his first home goal on 62 minutes after Reid delivered the ball to him "
"came on in place of Reid who went off to rapturous applause"

1 goal, 2 assists, and other 6 chances, not too bad really.
On the downside it was only Wimbledon and no I'm not his
dad! :p

I'd say he'd be no.1 young new addition to the irish squad at the moment. He seems to have been getting first team football for a couple of years now & has looked good for the u-21's.

Definitely better credentials than Premiership rerserve players like Partridge...

Stoop Press!! Make that 7 in 14 league matches, well 7 in 13.25
matches as only 25 minutes have gone as I write 8:10 7:45 start.

"Forest lead after a glorious goal from Andy Reid who picked up the ball mid-way in his own half and absolutely ran and ran and ran into the West Ham half before shooting from 25 yards out into the top corner of the net, beating England goal keeper David James"

Although it may only be the first division any midfielder who can score 7 goals in 9 league games deserves a chance for Ireland I say!
Same with Miller!
Only came on for 12 mins last night but created a great chance for himself and set of Hartson as well.
Personally the next friendly I think both should be given a half each in the company of and experienced midfielder such as Holland or Kinsella
I see Steven Reid got a full 90 mins on monday night as well, although at right back!

Just what we need, another right back!
:D

I don't think there is anybody posting on this board who doesn't realise at this stage that Reid, Miller (and thornton) are worth a run out with the senior squad now. sooner the better.

Except if your name is David Connolly & had 20-30 chances.

David Connelly is a striker not a midfielder.

Think Thornton seems to be a bit of a "problem child"
:p at Sunderland!
Unfortunately I think he got a bad injury last night and will be out for several months so well have to wait to see him play for the senior team
:(

Got me stats wrong!
14 league games Forest have played.

Apparently he (Reid) also hit the crossbar last night and missed a sitter towards the end of the game!
Bit of a Paul Schoals about him I hope.

After the performance in Basel I think everyone realises it's time for the young fellas. I just hope that Kerr has the guts to once again put his faith on the line with players he already knows for the most part.
