I had heard about this initiative. It seems very dear for what's in it, even leaving out the €30 that goes to the club. I see the website even puts it's own details on the scarf.

I think I would rather support the club directly by buying the merchandise from the club shop.

Any idea why not all clubs are represented (or have I answered my own question:))

You reckon you could by all this stuff cheaper in your club shop? In fact could you even buy this stuff in your club shop?

The club dont pay a penny and get €30 for each one sold. There are 3 clubs not involved. Cork due to thier examenership at the time we needed contracts signing. Galway because of a new contract signed with a kit supplier before we came on the scene and Wexford because they dont want to take part.

Yes I am biased cos I work for this company but its still good for clubs and supporters.

No Sligo were one of the first to sign up.

Firstly, I'm not involved in any decision making process for the Youths, so I have no idea why they opted out. Anything that puts funds in to a club has to be a good idea, provided there is some value for the punter.Because our club shop is to be located within our new stand when completed, we have a limited range of Youths merchandise available at present. As for the items on offer, let's have a look

Club Towel - We don't have one. I think it is a good idea and would like one
Hat - Youths ones are €8. I would not want one with a companys' website on the back
Scarf - Youths ones are €11. Again, I would not want one with the company website on it
Pin Badge - €5 for a Youths one
Gym Sack- Wouldn't be interested. Now a gear bag would be better
Luggage Spotter - All I can say about this item is :D
Window Sticker - The club doesn't have any but the supporters club gives ours out free
Affiliate Card - What's that?

Similarly I think its a bit expensive. Especially when the club is only getting 30euro.

Towel- Dont have one but good idea
Hat:8euro I think
Scarf:10euro
Badge: 4 euro
Gym sack:we have/had gear bags for 25euro-bigger and looked better
What the hell is a luggage spotter
Window sticker: Free
Card: :D

Total47euro. So thats 28euro for a towel.......and a luggage spotter.

It's a nice idea but pricey. Id prefer to buy one thing in the club shop for 30euro and have the club get all of the money

Unfortunately thats the problem. Even when you spend €30 in the club shop the club dont get all of it. For starters theres the 21.5% VAT.Also the club have to buy the product and stock itso its probably closerto €10 that the club gets. The whole point of this is that the club dont spend a penny and dont take any risk and trouser €30 pure profit for each one sold.

For the record Droghedas stuff in the shop is priced as follows:

Towel €25
Gymsack€12
Scarf €12
Hat €12
Pin Badge €5
Sticker €3
Luggage spotter €9

Wrap it around the handles of your luggage so its easy spot going around the
baggage thing in the airport.

Gymsack€12
Scarf €12

I have to say, €9 for the luggage spotter is kinda taking the p!ss. Novelty item at best.
Out of curiousity are many selling in the Drogs shop?

€12 for the gym sack is way overpriced too i.m.h.o. Granted it has the club crest etc but
you can pick up Umbro ones in certain shops for €3-€5

Hat & Scarf for €12 each ... the Town Shop currently sells a Hat & Scarf combo for €20.

While I admire the idea and the fact that Clubs pretty much get money for nothing (bar the use of the crest)
I cant help thing that the price is a bit much for what you actually get.

Having said that though I'll still probably end up getting a pack :p

From what I could gather its up to the Club itself (and/or sponsors/local retail outlets)
to decide on whether or not a discount scheme is introduced with the card.

If not ... its just a card to say you support whoever

Obviously our stuff is cheaper down here but that seems very expensive for some of those....

The club would have to pay vat on all it's income, would it not? Even if they were getting the money off ye.
