I was told yesterday up in Terryland that Shamrock Rovers are after Jeff ! anybody else hear this? Wish they would stay away till the end of season anyway and then see what happens as we dont need him to be distracted at such a vital time of the season.

Heard he's probably going back to the UK after the season.....only a rumour however....and there'll be plenty of them from here on in.

The Rovers rumour was in the irish indo so i wouldnt put too much stock in it.Isnt he contracted for 2 years though? Also i think 40% of his wages are depentant on us staying up.He said in that Indo article on Saturday that he wants to honour his contract here.

Are you sure? I'm almost certain I was told otherwise.

He said in an interview (I think it was Irish Times) last week that he flies to his UK home to his family every Saturday morning after a Friday game and returns to Galway on a Sunday evening. I'm not 100% he said Birmingham but it somewhere in England.

Fair enough. It wasn't Kidderminster was it?

Interview in Saturday's Irish Times with Keith Duggan (and not Emmet Malone I think), he said family still live in Birmingham

I sincerely hope Jeff stays. I think he has been outstanding considering what he had to start with and the complications foisted on him after he started. I can't see it happening but I hope he stays.

whatever about him going to Rovers or back to England he won't be our manager next season. he will hardly stay around for part-time football

If he could just stay(and we stay up) then the majority of players will stay id say. That in turn will mean next season we'd maybe be mid table plus crowds will be up as word about the standard football will spread etc too. That will mean we might be able to add to the squad in July etc and keep building. So i FIRMLY believe if Jeff stays the future will look extremely good.

Rovers' players are all part time AFAIK

Rather than debating why Jeff will go, why not debate what can be done to entice him to stay.

they are but rovers will be massive next season, new stadium, crowds, and a lot of potential. also jeff from dublin and if doesn't go back to england then more likely he end up there. more exposure too with rovers

Well said. We have to do our best to keep him here.

Was flicking through Tribune last night, and at end of Derry preview Kenna says he has not been approached by Shams and wants to stay at Utd. He said something like it depended on certain things, but he was happy here and wanted to see out other 2 years in contract

But isnt one of the "things" that we stay full time or at least a percentage of the playing staff ?

Might depend on how much we get for Jay,a decent 6 figure sum might let us keep some players full time. Its all about staying up first though and the next 3 weekends.

Thay had an ad in one of the papers yesterday advertising their manager's job and saying that they would be willing to consider full-time applicants. Not sure how that will impact on their playing staff but as somebody said here already next year should be a big one for them. Should be an attractive job for somebody anyway.

can't see us getting more than 30 or 40 thousand for Jay tbh

Given he's in the first flush of his coaching career, it'd probably be a good idea to see out his full term with us and then see where's he's at that point.

Yeah he came in at a very tough time for the club, and the club made some very tough decisions to ensure survival (first and most important was showing that bluffer Cousins the door). The difference in the quality of football that United are playing under Kenna is unreal, and all credit to him.

The off-season is going to be interesting to see who we lose, the UK January transfer window could see a couple of lads like O'Shea packing their bags and that could be a big thing in Kenna's decision making process, if he stays what or who is he going to have to play with...

He shouldnt be going if thats all thats offered. The lad is worth a lot more than that in fairness.
