On very good authority. City have done a big deal with O Neills which meanns the club will be wearing O Neills gear for the next four seasons. Apparently the deal is worth a lot of cash to the club. lets hope so. sounds like a positive development

This press release was sent to 96FM yesterday...

Cork City FC today confirmed that it has concluded a major new sponsorship deal with O’Neills Sportswear. The deal will see O’Neills become the Official kit supplier to the club for the next four seasons commencing in 2004.

City Chairman, Brian Lennox said “ this deal is very significant for the club and I am really excited at the prospect of working closely with such a progressive Irish company like O’Neills. I am delighted to say that there was huge interest from other sportswear companies in securing this contract but the commitments made by O’Neills to Cork City FC made what otherwise might have been a very difficult decision easy. In marketing and commercial terms this is a ground-breaking deal and includes many exciting elements, details of which will be announced in due course. I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to Le Coq Sportif for their loyalty and support over the last 3 years”.

Commenting on the deal, Cormac Farrell, Business Development Manager of O’Neills said, “ We are absolutely thrilled to be part of the “Rebel Army”._Cork City is already by far the biggest club inIreland in terms of support and we look forward to playing our part in helping the club to become the most successful on the pitch as well. The new O’Neills, Cork City kits will be of the very highest quality and will incorporate new elements, the first of their kind for any Irish club in any code. Despite the fact that the new season doesn’t start until April 2004, replica shirts will be available in time for this Christmas.”

great news for the club.... kinda liked the le coq sportif jerseys myself though.. always did a decent job except for the current home jersey which feels like a potato sack.. reckon its cost us a couple of points in matches when it rained:D

good to see an irish company on board though.. just once they dont hit us with their gaa style kits with the 70s striped running shorts and blank jerseys with the big stripe across the middle..

if it s a good money deal then its good for the club, hopefully it will pay for some the contracts of the new signings that we need...................but o'neills always reminds me of old skool gaa and their jerseys sucked big time.........hopefully it wont be a gaa style jersey as one_bounce said...........

This is good news indeed.
O'Neills have produced quality products in Ireland for years and I'm sure they'll be able to deliver on time unlike Le Coq Up.
I don't think Le Coq Up have produce one decent shirt for us and the training/casual gear they supplied us with was rubbish.
Big LCS and tiny City crest.

I wonder will we have a new crest on our new kit?
Looking forward to Christmas now.

Just to comment on the remarks about O'Neills producing 70's GAA style shirts for us, take a look at the likes of Bohs and St Pats. They have fine gear.

O'Neills currently sell Cork GAA gear online (http://www.oneills.ie/products.asp?cat1=GAA&cat2=Cork) so maybe they can sell our shirts too.
Great news for the exiles???

....wont this mean that the new and IMO one of the nicest ever City jersies, the Navy one will have to be replaced again with an O'Neills one.

O'Neills make some good jersies alright, looking forward to seeing what they'll look like.

I actually think Adidas (2 year wait for jerseys) were worse than Le Coq (1 year wait) but sounds like O'Neills will supply a lot more kit for the club.

If O'Neills can get going quickly be a good bit of cash in it for the club in the off season at Christmas.

I wonder if there be a poll for supporters choice of design? Anyone know what kind of quality those O'Neills jerseys are like?

Our current away kit looks class but the quality is meant to be a bit ****ty. We've had problems with O'Neills for the last couple of years (they didn't supply kits on time etc) and now Pats are getting on board with Umbro.

Oh and Bohs current home kit is the worse kit in the history of football...

I'd prefer that Noelle Feeney hand knitted our kits rather than go with Umbro. John Courtney getting fatter and richer, than he already is, on Irish football and taking his money over to England to pour it into one of the worst teams in the English Football League. Good luck with Umbro!

I think Courtney Jnr is adirector with Rovers actually. Still not ideal, i'll grant you...

In fairness, as long as we (Pats) get the best deal possible, i don't really care...

Dundalk also have had alot of problems with O'Neills for the last couple of years.
1. They changed are crest whit out even telling us.
2. We still have not got are away kit wit Oscars on it.
3. They made 300 Dundalk kits wit Dundalk Cabs(last season sponor) & wit that new crest(No.1).

Dundalk are in talks wit 5 sports companys & two of them are VERY big.

P.s Never never supply kits on time.

Always associated O'Neills with gaa and people of a rural background but if it means the club will make money out of it and that the jerseys will be more widely available then it is a very welcome deal. Also, as has already been mentioned they do a fine job with the Pats and Bohs jerseys.

Will definitely buy one of te new gears if they're decent.

Wasn't mad about the Le Coq green gear for some reason. Blue gear was ok.

It shouldn't matter too much if this kit is a bit late. It's supposed to be out for christmas and the new season doesn't start 'til march/april. Missing the christmas market would be a balls but it'd be alright.

PS is it defo true that there will be 2 kits out this chrimbo, sounds a lot for a club our size.
