According to the BBC Northern Ireland website today, Linfield are seriously considering their future in the Setanta Sports Cup if the games are played on a Saturday next year. They also are questioning the costs involved in taking part.
Anyone want to offer Mr Jeffreys a sour grape;)

“I’ve always said I’d like that a competition of this magnitude could be integrated into the seasons of both leagues a little better with games being played on a Saturday.”

The comments on the BBC are attributed to Linfield FC Club Chairman, Jim Kerr, not David Jeffrey.
Simple Minds does spring to mind.

Really? Always thought he was a top manager (from my limited knowledge of IL football)

He does an excellent job with Linfield. However, they do have far more money than the rest of the IL. It'd be interesting to see him managing another IL or even LoI side to see how he gets on.
IMO, this is just sour grapes from Linfield. Would they have been complaining if they were in the final? Lifnield won't pull out of Setanta. It's worth too much. And even if they do, it's not going to bring the competition down (although it would make it far less competitive)
They probably have a point about allocation of prize money though. Wouldn't be oppossed to a knock-out system myself either.
