I always liked playing Cobh Ramblers, was sometimes afraid of them too.
I hope to make it down as well.
I t will be a nervy affair at least and Cobh showed their potential in the first half-an-hour of the first game in Cobh last spring. Matt Gregg had to saved a penalty backed then. Derek Doyle hit their post later in the game.

Before the game at Mayfield, Cork (above railway staion) the UCD 'A' team play Cobh 'A's. The first game at Belfield a couple of months ago ended 5-0 to the Students. But that was then.

After the game at St. Colman's Park there's a Race Night at the Rambler's clubhouse. So a full afternoon andf evening of activity.

2-0 top Cobh , How did the game pan out ?
I know it's any 3 from four but the way Bray are playing make that 5 . I would still say that Cobh will be the one team to make it as points on the board at this time of the season mean a lot more than games in hand . :o

Back to the usual stuff after two vaguely promising performances. Defence was OK, midfield were slack and slow with the passes and the forwards rarely got a sniff. Duggan and Fitz were lively when they came on. Mahon and McNally are suspended for the Bohs game though.

No way back after this. Annoying to go down to a joke of a club like Cobh who don't pay their players for a third of the season and can't fulfill a reserve game (twice in one season). Still, our future's brighter than theirs. And next season can't be as bad as this one! :)

your not bitter at all are you, players on 50% of wages and fundraising being done to pay the balance

50%; my mistake. Still pathetic. And they were asked for E2k each, which would probably make up a good chunk of the balance.

Theyl be paid the full amount, what does it matter to you when its paid? If its not paid then cobh wont get a license anyway

The Sun style rubbish. They were given the chance to buy a membership in this scheme just as every other fan was.

If it's not paid and the players agree, they'll get a licence. There's massive other debts too; not paying players is the obvious sign of debts. It's the usual irritation at clubs racking up hideous losses just to finish ninth. Really don't see how you can even vaguely defend it, TBH.

"Given the chance", eh? Come on... Granted, they refused it, but to ask is just ridiculous.

They wont. Players must be paid 100% for them to get a license same as us.

I didnt defend them racking up debts. You were giving out about players not being paid, they will be.

Cobh have debts certainly, but theyl have to pay them all eventually to be in the premier next year. Otherwise examinership, 10point deduction and demotion or else they just wont get a license.

They overreached and stupidly racked up debts, but they are debts that will have to be paid for them to stay up ahead of ye.

Some of them are Cobh fans, from Cobh. They may have wanted to. No one was forced or pressured they were just given the opportunity.

It was only bad publicity because a newspaper heard and painted it like they were practically being forced to.

Given they have outstanding bonuses from last year (according to the article in the Indo in August, which nobody's complained too much about), I'd be sceptical about that.

Not being able to pay your players is a last resort of debt-wracked clubs; I was using it to indicate just how much they've overspent, not picking on it in particular.

That's not correct. Any written agreement with the players will suffice, be it just a percentage of the total owed, a deferral until 2055, payment in instalments of €0.04 a day or whatever.

Few silly threads here all of a sudden Cobh are a bad club for doing what everyone else has done this season--overspent.On a defensive note cobh have not entered examinership YET so to have a go at them is wrong.Harps and Galway are in the same boat and their budgets were bigger to begin with than Cobhs. To state so surely that your future is brighter than Cobhs is just wishfull thinking i cannot see things getting any worse in Cobh at the moment it looks like they"ll survive.

Not all of a sudden. They were always a silly club. :) We're consistent if nothing else!

(Also, Cobh won't enter examinership as they own their own ground. And not everyone has overspent this season; you've still got us, Rovers and to a lesser extent, Bray)

Again you have your facts wrong again, re reserve team.. just to let you know the problem with Cobh reserve is keeping all the player happy, because they have 17 players plus senior player playing in the reserve team. Most home games Cobh will field 4/5 senior players who are not on the first team squad or back from injury and the rest is made up of the 17 players which leave at least 7 players not getting a game. This is every game so just again they have two full teams.
Cobh like many many other loi clubs have money problems and like city they took a reduction in pay, last week the have a full house for a fundrasing night where supports helped to support the players and all money is going to the players wages.
You seem to have a problem with Cobh, and you are the first person I know that travels by plane .. where the pilot get up and speakes to you personally about the weather.

You've never been on a plane where the pilot gives you info about the place you're flying to?

Many many many times and all they give you is a summary of the day/morning not a full weather forcast.

Yup, and he said it was drizzling. Which was enough for me to know it wasn't lashing rain.
