The Vikings plundered Sligo`s Showgrounds for the second time this season, coming out on top with yet another 3-2 victory from the jaws of defeat.

A battling display from the capital side, who regain their place at the head of the table by virtue of this victory, was helped with Cathal O`Connors strike from the edge of the box after just fifteen minutes. It wasn't until after the interval that Sligo looked likely to outplay the dubs, when they hit a purple patch for the first ten minutes of the second half.

Goals coming from Keogh and Rivers five minutes apart at the start of the second half left the Connacht men looking at their first points against the League leaders this season, but then City`s top two scorers this season had other plans.

Robbie Dunne crossed the ball into the box just shy of the hour mark, and when the ball landed at the feet of the onrushing Robbie Farrell he dispatched the ball to the back of the Sligo net. Dunne was also involved with the score that earned City all three points, and their place at the top of the league, he was fouled inside the opponents penalty area, when the match referee awarded the penalty, Alan O'Connor was called upon to take the spot kick. O'Connor secured his sixth league goal of the season with a firmly placed penalty.

Dublin City now find themselves a point ahead of nearest rivals Finn Harps, and five points ahead of Bray, who have a game in hand, with Kildare falling behind, now nine points of the top of the table. Sligo Rovers` interest in the playoffs has been ended, as they now find themselves in seventh place, eleven points of fourth, with only eight games remaining in the competition.
