Credit crunch all over again!

Conclusion to be drawn that both clubs are financially screwed?

From the statement, it looks like Bohs did everything asked of them by Drogheda, who reneged on every agreement reached.

I'd say it's far more likely that it's all an innocent mis-understanding. I think it's a Bank Holiday in Drogheda, which affected the post because people weren't expecting a Bank Holiday. Both clubs are fine.

Disgraceful from Drogheda, if that Bohs statement is even 50% true.

Longfordian

Yeah sounds like Drogheda need the cash from those tickets in a hurry, for Friday's wages?. I don't think Bohs will be letting them use Dalymount again any time soon.

Yep. Drogheda not accepting a cheque indicates similar. Bohs unwilling to pay by bankdraft doesn't help either

Also think its pretty low class of Bohs to release a statement. They're still getting shafted around by Drogheda though so maybe the frustration just boiled over

Ridiculous of Drogheda to say only 400 Bohs fans to be allowed in and its cash at stiles though. Its like they want Bohs to be casual. Strange that Bohs don't think they'd sell 400 tickets for a league clincher though, even with the time restraints

Poor form alright, especially in the week where we've had the Wexford - Limerick saga. It will only serve to infuriate decent fans who cant get a ticket & give license to trouble makers to cause trouble on Friday.

Longfordian

Or what may happen is that Drogheda will let in a crowd over capacity unofficially. They make the money which they seem to need urgently, the fans get in and the fire officer/FAI are none the wiser. The FAI would only give them a token fine anyway.

The way I'm reading it is that Bohs can't afford to pay upfront until they collect the cash from their fans and that Drogs can't afford to wait for the money.

Happy to be proved wrong.

I see it that if Bohs take the money, they won't give it to Drogheda at all, which is fair enough if Drogs owe them money. Drogs need the money too and aren't willing to let that happen.

But your post probably has more than an element of truth about it too.

Cheques can be cancelled. Or bounce.

That said, if Drogs owe them money, they'd be entirely within their rights to count that money against their debts.

That sounds like the best explanation to me.

Bohs fans should all go to Drogheda and watch it in a pub so Drogheda don't get a penny from away tickets and the team should lose on purpose and wait to clinch the title at Dalymount. That'd show them!

They were willing to give a third party a cheque to hold till Friday. Plenty of time to have it cancelled with the FAI head none the wiser. Possible you're right though.

Guys - just been on the phone to Bohs - and have an update on the situation about Friday:

http://www.bohemians.ie/index.php/club-news/drogheda-united-ticketing-details-announced.htm

Following representations made by Bohemians to the FAI and eircom League - the club has been contacted this evening by the FAI and advised that the Bohemian FC allocation of 400 tickets will be arriving in Dalymount Park tomorrow morning (Thursday) at 10am.
The allocation of tickets is broken down as follows:

300 Adult Tickets (€20 each)
50 Student Tickets (€7 each)
50 OAP/Children Tickets (€5 each)

These will go on sale tomorrow morning (Thursday) to Members only - from 10am.

Please note that due to the international fixture taking place between the Republic of Ireland and Nottingham Forest at Dalymount Park on Thursday night - exact hours of sale cannot be confirmed at this point in time.

Any unsold tickets will then go on sale to the General Public from 9am on Friday Morning.

Is that a ephemism in Phibsborough?

Aside from that, Drogheda, reigning champions, aren't going to want to relinquish their title on their home ground to Bohemians, the Fenlon/Kenny factor will ensure Derry (the one team Bohs haven't beaten this season?) will be well up for it at Dalymount. UCD and Cobh are away games against teams that will be fighting for their lives, never to be underestimated...my prediction: Pat to win the title by winning all their remaining mantches as Bohs crumble under the pressure of needing a win against Cork in their final game of the season.

Maybe.

With reference to the money for rental of Dalymount, were Drogs given a timescale in which to pay or do they intend holding off payment for as long as possible just?

A key element in being able to exhange tips on polishing trophies is to actually have experience of the need to polish them - i.e. winning them on a half-regular basis.

It would therefore be a very one-sided master class from City....

Subject: Important: Drogheda United v Bohemians ticket information

Tickets for visiting section at United Park sold out

Dear all,

With regards to Friday night’s Premier Division match between Drogheda United and Bohemians, please note that all tickets for the Bohemians end of the stadium have been sold. The club received their ticket allocation this morning and all tickets for the visiting section of the stadium have since been sold.

There will be no tickets available to Bohemians supporters on the night and the FAI are requesting that Bohemians supporters without tickets do not travel to Drogheda as they will not gain access to the stadium.

I would very much appreciate it if this point could be stressed in any coverage you give the match tomorrow.

Many thanks,

Eoghan

Bohs sold their allocation in an hour. Will be chaos if Gardai and/or drogs stewards try to enforce this.

Although quite a few of the Bohs hired goons (stewards) will be looking forward to the opportunity to have a fight as they have issued several challenges to Bohs fans in the last couple of months

I got tickets this morning because i wasn't at work and live near Dalymount - they were all gone by Lunchtime, which means loads of people who - like me - go to every away game will be ticketless - so it's not just 'bandwagon jumpers'

PLenty of bandwagon jumper will have tickets too. A mate of mine bought one today.
He's not a member. He was just off work and decided to chance it. I'd say he goes to about 4/5 Bohs games a year. He just walked up to office and bought 2 tickets (one for his non member brother too). He said he saw a guy buying 6 in front of him

They are getting 15% of the grounds capacity.

Fair enough IMO. Similar happened with our game in Cork a few seasons back and we ended up getting between 5 and 10% of the tickets.

You had something like 70 fans for the league game in Dalymount, and maybe 150 for the cup, your last chance of a trophy.

Oh and when you won the league last year, last year's averages were Drogheda United 1,919,while we got Bohemians 1,924.

 We had over 100 for the league game. Not much over 100 though - our worst away crowd in Dublin in years - the apathy around the club at the time was very high. Still is really!
For the cup game we had plenty more than 150 ffs! From memory it could have been anything up to 500, probably around the 400 mark though.

What am I doing anyway - all crowds in the LOI are crap, and seem to be getting worse if you ask me - its stupid arguing over it really

You never had 500 there at the Cup game no more than 150-200 fact.

The only team to have anything like 500 this year in Dalymount was Pats(first game).

Well its clear now why Drogs didn't want to send tickets to dalymount & it would seem that Bohs are only one in a long line of creditors looking for their rent money & will more than likely have to settle for the Rovers 4% payment only option.

Out of interest, how many season ticket holders do Bohs have ? You would have thought that these would get priority for any all ticket games. Personally if Dundalk decided to sell to first come on a work day and then allow people to buy 6 at a time I would be less than impressed.

We don't do season tickets as such AFAIK - at least I've never seen one - we are a members club, owned and run by them as a body (in theory....) - there's about 500 members. In the past, for important matches with limited tickets, members have been taken care of first, but this didn't happen today.

Do members get a dedicated seat and the bulk-buy of games for a season up-front (i.e. the same benefits of a season ticket) ?
