Athlone Town -V- Sporting Fingal
Get on Get on Get on Get on. I don't usually like advising people unless its advising a lady to get on :D but Fingal are bet of the week @ 1,78 away to Athlone. The midlanders have a rake of injuries with their dressing room mirroring a hospital's waiting room. "Manager Dermot Lennon is sweating on the availability of Ian Coffey (foot), Carmine Russo (ankle), Anthony Hayes (knee), Ian Rossiter (ankle), Des Hope (hamstring), Colm Jinks (hip), Jim Sheridan (calf) and Nigel Keady (ankle). Long-term injury victim Niall Scullion is a definite non-starter for Town." They could be missing at least 9 players for this fixture. Fingal will be well up for this as they have an outside chance of winning the league. They will surely go out tonight with guns blazing. Athlone haven't even made the Dubliner's keeper remove the ball from the onion sack this season.
3 games between this lot so far this season:
Sporting Fingal 2 - 0 Athlone Town
Athlone Town 0 - 3 Sporting Fingal
Sporting Fingal 1 - 0 Athlone Town
Line your pockets tonight folks. 1.78 for a Sporting Fingal win.

Dundalk -V- Limerick 37
We are now entering into the final three games of the eircom League First Division. Things are hotting up nicely. With no fewer that four sides still in contention of winning the Championship. Tonight sees Dundalk hosting the men from Limerick in Oriel Park. A win for Dundalk could see them go three points clear of league leaders Shels. However, the Munstermen will have something to say about that. Limerick are in flying form at the moment, apart from their slight blip last weekend at home to lowly placed Athlone. Limerick are unbeaten in 6 games (4 wins and 2 draws) and they haven’t been beaten on the road since early August, over 3 months ago.
This side have shown plenty of potential and ability since the 2 week summer break in June. This is how the table would stand had the season began on the 20th of June:
Fingal = 36
Dundalk = 35
Limerick = 34
Waterford = 33
Shels = 32
Interestingly, it is the Limerick side who have had the upper hand over these two sides this season, The 3 previous meetings finished:
Limerick 1-2 Dundalk
Dundalk 0-2 Limerick
Limerick 2-0 Dundalk
This time last year they met in this ground and the away side won 2-0 which effectively ended Dundalk’s promotion charges. Can we see the same tonight?!
Reasons not to back Limerick:
*Limerick have nothing to play for except pride
*Dundalk are at home on their fake pitch
*Dundalk are aiming to go 3 points clear and will be well up for this one
*Dundalk have notched some brilliant results lately in beating both Waterford and Fingal
Reasons to back Limerick:
*They’ve shown plenty of times that they can beat Dundalk at home and away
*Limerick players could well be playing for their contracts for next season
*It’s that time of year again when Dundalk have their bottling campaign.
*Limerick play both Dundalk and Shels in the last 3 games of the season. Basically, it is they who have control as to who will win the league this November.
*This league is **** and anyone can beat anyone.
This is a very speculative bet but I feel that William Hill’s price of 7/1 for an away win is way too big to dismiss. Dundalk could easily win convincingly tonight but Limerick have proven that they are no pushovers.
Backing Limerick 37 @ 7/1 (William Hills) 100 Points

I'm all over Pats @ 2.62 which won't be around for long either. I've a big one on this and it's my last bet of the LoI season.
They are out to prove themselves now. They've won their last 2 games since the betting story broke and I'm sure they'll be fired up for this one. Drogheda haven't won at home since the 1st of August :yikes: and have been on a terrible run since. They haven't won a game since 19th of September and their current form reads: DDLLDLL
And if that's not good enough to back the Stains then this should do the trick :
Drogheda players may go on strike
By Daniel McDonnell and Neil Ahern
Thursday November 13 2008
DROGHEDA UNITED players will have showdown talks with chairman Vincent Hoey this morning before deciding if they will play tomorrow night's match with St Patrick's Athletic.
Strike action has been contemplated since last week when the squad failed to receive close to 30pc of their wage -- the arrangement they had with the club to help them through the examinership forced by their financial state.
Instead, they got €200 each in cash and, angry with the communication breakdown with their employers, they are now considering drastic action but will meet with Hoey today before finalising their position.
Negotiations
They may play under protest as it is the final match of the league season and further negotiations will need to follow. Drogheda are facing a race against time to reimburse the players the balance from their agreed wage deferrals as that arrangement only runs until the season finishes.
If debts to employees still exist on November 30 then Drogheda are unlikely to gain a Premier Division licence next season. Hoey has admitted that the situation is bleak.
"We're in examinership and if the examiner hasn't money he can't pay them," says Hoey.
A number of employees, including manager Paul Doolin, had their phones taken away this week while players have been given leave to seek new employment with Eamonn Zayed and Adam Hughes playing trials in South Korea.

Hamburger SV v Aston Villa
This is the live one on Setanta tonight so we're hoping to make a few bob this evening. Early in the week Hamburg were odds against but when news began filtering through that Villa were leaving their big names behind in Birmingham the Germans were quickly re-priced at odds on. Worryingly Hamburg have only won once of their last five home European games but they are flying at the moment in the league. They are fourth at the moment and only a couple of points off the league leaders. Another factor to look at is that these sides are already through and are only playing for placings in the group. O'Neill is not concerned with this game and when he rested a few players in their last game they were beaten 2-1 at home to MSK Zilna. Also, this is Hamburg's last game for 5 and a half weeks and don't play again till January 27th so they have no need to rest players, hopefully. If Petric and Olic play tonight they will tear Villa's young defence to shreds, both are on fire this season. Lets hope the Germans are even half arsed for this one.

The Racing Post flagged up the Torquay Blackpool match as a potential upset and @3.75 I agree that the home side are worth chancing. Blackpool are struggling in the Championship and have recently had to let a load of players go due to their loan spells ending. This is from their website.
Caretaker manager Tony Parkes will be without the services of Gary Taylor-Fletcher for the game due to suspension, while Zesh Rehman, Lee Hendrie, Steve Kabba, Liam Dickinson, Graham Stack, Adam Hammill, Kyel Reid and Alan Gow have all now returned to their parent clubs following loan spells.
Torquay are going well in the conference and hopefully they can take advantage of Blackpools woes.
------------------------------------
The above is lifted from another forum.
Well I just checked there and they have only played about 55 games betweeen the lot of them but 8 players is still alot to lose at this stage of the season. Gow will be a loss to them as he has scored 5 goals in 10 games.
Here's a decent write up.

The home side are in stinking form lately but I reckon today they'll be well up for it, obviously, and will make it hard for United to break through. I reckon United will take the 1-0 win and won't be trying too hard. They haven't been banging them in at all this season so lets hope they don't start this afternoon.

New Balance = 3425.00

The home side are in stinking form lately but I reckon today they'll be well up for it, obviously, and will make it hard for United to break through. The sending off and the peno ensured that this bet was a loser. In fairness though, it should have been double figures.

Blackpool -V- Birmingham
Backing the away side here even though they have been quite stuttery lately. Birmingham are 3rd at the moment and now is the time for them to get their arse in gear to grab either one of the automatic promotion spots. In the previous meeting between the sides it was Blackpool who came out on top. McLeish has stated during the week that he wants revenge over this shower and he said he has plenty of players itching to get into the squad. Blackpool come into this game after poor display against Torquay in the cup last week and this punter is hoping that they are still hurting. Although, they lost a few players a couple of weeks ago they have brought in another 3 or so loan signings. Hopefully these are not enough to fill the cracks
Backing Birmingham @ 2.1 - 100 pts
New Balance = 3325.00

Newcastle United v Hull City - FA Cup round 3 replay
I'm going to take a gamble here. Going to have a shot at the away team. Newcastle will be without a host of first team players with more than 10 players on the sidelines for this one. However, Hull have Arsenal at the weekend and seem more keen on that one rather than the FA Cup so are fielding a few fringe players. St. James Park will be empty as well so hopefully that works in the favour of Hull. It won't come down to skill or class tonight but simply who wants it more. I'm not overly confident about this one either but @ 4.2 I think Hull are backable.
Back Hull @ 4.2 50 pts (betfair)

That's a shocking United line up especially with Neville at centre halve. United have to go all out if they don't want to go to ET so hopefully Derby can catch them on the break. I reckon Derby can nick a goal at least. Yes, United are rock solid in defence this season but not with Foster in goal and those 4 in front of him.
Backing United not to keep a clean sheet @ 2.68 (betfair) 100 pts
