My University here has a Study Abroad program in Dublin that I plan on doing either in the fall of 2009 or 2010 (preferably 2009 so I can go to some WCQs). Obviously the top choice would be the FAI (though from what many people say about them it shouldn't be). Anyone know of any other good internships there?

What field are you looking to get in to, its not a great time to be looking for work here as we have just officially entered a recession.

I have no idea, that is why it might have to be in 2010. We have also entered a recession. I was thinking about converting all my money to euros before I get hit too hard and can't afford to come to Europe this February, is that a bad idea?

depends how long your going to hold onto it, but in fairness the dollar probably wont be performing well for the forseable future . The FAI probably wouldnt be the worst to work for. They do advertise jobs from time to time keep your eye on this

Good luck with it anyway.

I am guessing you are in primary degree i.e. not specialised yet?

The Irish University system is a lot different & I feel you may need to be in a specialist field. Not sure how many formal Internship Irish companies run, here we usually call work placement. I know DIT Computer Science place their students in work placement during the term so work up to 20 hours while also doing classes. We took one last year. I think the salary was a set rate.

The FAI had a great young lad on an internship at the start of the summer from LA. Conor worked with Noel Mooney and really seemed to enjoy it. If you want I can give you his contact info and you can chat to Conor and ask him about it?

St Pats have had a number of American students over in the last few years on work experience/internship type programmes. Don't know the details. But if you're looking for something football related.....
