Good luck to Joe Kinnear.He will need it at that basket case of a club that is Newcastle utd.
How did Ashley accumulate so much money in the first place.
Looks like his present talent is more in reducing his wealth but he is not alone at that at the moment.

I hope does very well there - always liked Kinnear. Would have liked seeing him get the Irish job after Charlton left. IIRC he was well in the running at the time and was dying to get a crack at it.

I think he'll stabilise them despite what those idiots on tyneside think

A good manager in his day, but not sure is he a good choice after so long out of the game. His Forest spell didnt exactly end well either.

In fairness to Kinnear, when asked about the Cockney Mafia, he reminded Toon fans that he was very proud of his Dublin upbringing, according to the Daily Mail

A good manager in his day, but not sure is he a good choice after so long out of the game. His Forest spell didnt exactly end well either.
Any manager could fail at one club(sometimes things just dont work out)and forest still have not turned it around.Could Forest even with Clough win the league or ECup in this day and age(no is the answer but that is a question for another day)
In a way it is surprising that he has not had some other clubs when you consider some of the no-hopers that continuosly get jobs.
He did have a heart attack and this with the Forest job not working out must have cost him.
Hopefully this will work out for him.

He lived on the same road as me in Dublin. Clever man manager and honest in his views. In a way he can't lose as nothing is expected from him. And I am not convinced Newcastle will be bought anytime soon. Maybe Kinnear will be manager until the new year.

How long did he live over here for?

I mean I've relatives living over in London for nearly 50 years and they still have their (strong) Limerick accents.

His dad worked in Guinness (as did my old man)and he grew up in Guiness' houses in Terenure. The family moved to Watford when he was seven.

Corrib road. Stretches from Kimmage road lower all the way down to the end of Mount Tallant Avenue. Donal Murphy ex Coventry city/Shamrock Rovers/Torquay also from same road. I on the other hand made my debut in the United Churches League 2nd division if anyone is interested. Once sent a peno into the sea when playing Greystones away!

Yeah I always liked Kinnear too and felt he should have got the job after Charlton as it was unfair on Mc Carthy to learn on the job. I think it maybe too late in the day for Kinnear to be a manager of a Premier League Club but he may restore a bit of passion and organisation to the Newcastle team. Shambles all round though.

I watched their game with Everton Sunday, and I have to say I was really cheering them on. I didn't think I would be, but something about Joe reminds me of better days of Premier league. The whole crazy gang and all that was brilliant for the neutrals and I hope he does really well. A good character.
