to be honest its either that are he wouldnt get the commitment from the bigger clubs.Remember at that stage all things goin well you would expect your better sides to be still envolved in the Fai/Mjc/Msc an a free weekend for an Oscar match isnt always welcome when a club side is tryin to gain some momentum. We have 7 on the Cork panel an I wasnt exactly delighted to be told they are going to train the night before we play Newmarket Celtic in the Senior cup.As is down here they can only train with the Oscar side on Friday nights because there clubs train Tue/Thur an with games Saturday the top clubs are weary of lettin there players train the night before a big cup/league game ect ect

is it a case that he's going with the bones of the squad he had from last year, and maybe some players just cant or dont want to commit to it?, theres a lot of quality players not on it!!

tedd11
28/10/2008, 3:04 PM
you will always have the argument that there is not alot of quality players in it.everybody has there own opinion like every year about who should and should not be in the squad.afterall they only lost the final by a penalty shootout lastyear.you could put out 2 squads from limerick that would be as good as each other.last years squad performed better than the last few years before so i dont think its much of a suprise that he picked most of the same players.

There are better players than him around, but it just seems strange that he didnt make the squad this season when he played so well for them last season!!!!

a few of us didnt want to play this year its a waste of time

it is a pity to call it that. Whatever players may think it is, it is a chance to represent your league.
The team was unlucky last year, it was well run, so it could hardly be called a waste of time.....

Can't understand anyone that would think it is a waste of time.Everyone has their own opinion but at the end of the day it is a chance to represent your city so i think you should take the oppurtunity when it arises and be proud of the fact that you have got picked.

to be fair it was prob the only thing that was run well by the ldmc last year!, i know they have a tough job to do to keep everyone happy but at the end of the day its just not good enough!

To be fair in years gone by it has been a joke but speaking to a few of the players in it last year they thought that it was well run. So if thats the case then it's definately not a waste of time. It's still a shop window which the irish junior manager uses to see players. Good luck to the team again this year, hopefully we'll go one better than last year. This is the squad for the first game we'll see changes to the squad for each game. Every player in town should be looking to get into the squad as its recognition for how well your doing for your club.

well i giving my opinion myself+a couple of others i know turned down the chance
your certainly entilted to your opinion, but how is it a waste of time.by all accounts lasts years setup was well run and professional.surely a player should aspire to represent their city and county and has been mentioned junior caps can come from involvment.think the squad is a decent one and balanced though phelans inclusion is odd, however no matter what the squad lets get behind them.

different managers rate different players. that along with some people not interested , along with a great run with last years squad will surly have been the foundation for this years squad.

Aidan Ryan had brought back credibility to the Oscar Traynor and should be supported. He is ultra professional.
