Republic of Ireland 3-0 Greece The Republic of Ireland women’s under 19 team made a dream start to their UEFA championship first qualifying phase with a dominating 3-0 victory over Greece in Israel tonight (Wednesday.) Goals from Niamh Mulcahy, Amy Ryan and Louise Quinn in the space of 15 minutes capped a fine nights work in Nazareth where they duly put their opponents to the sword in a professional display from the young Irish side.

Susan Ronan’s side started brightly and they created numerous chances early on as the Greeks struggled to keep up with their Irish counterparts. The Irish rattled the Greek cross-bar three times in the opening third as they put their opponents under immense pressure. Aisling Annacotty midfielder, Niamh Mulcahy opened the scoring in injury time in the first half. The Greeks struggled to clear a cross-field ball and the breaking ball came to Mulcahy at the edge of the area who smashed the ball off the crossbar and into the net.
