Any one know whats happening re TV coverage re the Swiss game. Just found out neither Sky or Setanta are showing it.

It's on Network 2 but I assume you are in the UK - plenty of Irish bars should have it.

Cant get Network 2 over here, so its anyones guess to what the pubs are doing. Anyone know? Surely they have to show it on some channel.

Setanta are showing it I think as Waxy's have it on. I'm in Glasgow and I'll be there. Set for a good day as we've got the rugby in the morning and the football in the afternoon. Just hope we win.

Waxy's will definately be showing it. I intend on being there anyway.

Does Setanta have a different schedule for Scotland and England? As far as I knew there is a European schedule and a north American schedule.

Rang Setanta on Wed said they where not showing it?

If needs must I will see you in Glasgow.

I dunno I rang Waxy's in glasgow and they said there showing it.
I'll have a walk by next week and ask when I'm in town. I normally try and avoid the old plastic pubs but have no choice on this occasion. Be good for a bit of atmosphere though.

I'm just after ringing Setanta and they don't know yet if they're going to have the game. They'll know on Monday. It would be a disaster if they weren't showing it. I'd nearly fly back to Ireland to see it.

This is worrying.

Lets all petition Setanta. What station would Waxy's be showing it on then.

I'm in London and I'd say if Setanta aren't showing it then Waxys won't be. For those in London, I'm reliably informed by a friend that there is a pub in Stoke Newington called the Toucan who have Network 2 somehow. Keep our fingers crossed that Setanta will pull through.

Some Irish pubs have Sky subscriptions registered in Ireland, which include RTE & Net 2. Having RTE is the unofficial mark of authenticity for an Irish pub nowadays.

If the worst come to the worst ( and its not looking good for
fans in the UK) would it be possible for some one to point a web cam at their TV set in a yahoo chat room.
The quality of picture is better than you think + its a lot better
than nothing.
Also even the radio receotion over here is next to useless where
I am, so at least we could hear some commentary.

For a better quality picture you could save the game as a big
mpeg file and let people download it from kazza.
Recording from TV in this was gives a surprisingly good
picture when I tried it and I only have a very low spec PC
300Mhz 64meg ram.
WIth a faster processor you could get much better results.

As an added bonus you could do frame by frame replays your
self.

The reception in the UK where i live is almost inaudiable on a
clear day, but not so bad when its cloudy.
Any live web radio casts? They also then to be intermittent
( buffering................)

I an really surprised if Sky and the likes are not carrying such
a big game, the company must be run by a bunch of idiots,
no doubt being paid 100's of thousands to play golf all day.
Nice work is you can get it, no wonder it has been in dire straits
financially

If worst comes to worst you can get RTE Radio 1 by telephone from Brussels.

Seriously.

That would be desperate.

Its a strange world when you have to phone Brussels to get
an Irish radio station. I assume people in Ireland also have
to telephone the Brussels number.

It all sounds a bit 'irish' to me.

I think it's something to do with the Irish EU politicians in Brussels being able to keep up with the latest news. Or something.

It was RTE's coverage under the banner of Setanta. We had George and Jim talking us through the whole way.
Thought it was funny when the Swiss keeper was hurt at the end and Jim Beglin said he was a diver. Then the cameras showed his head bleeding and all Jim did was laugh and say "better take that back then"
As for the performance of the team, the less said the better. Wales did well though, they didn't deserve to lose.
