I'm getting the impression that at least some results are going to be hard to come by this season for whatever reason.
Can I suggest that we get a thread going for each of the four pools and anyone who might have heard something can put a score or two in as they're passing?

Pool 1 comprises Athlone, Bray, Kildare, Longford, Pat's, Rovers and UCD.

Rovers v Athlone last week was played as a friendly according to the Rovers website. There may have been a problem with some players' registrations apparently.

Was at the Longford 0-0 Rovers game, along with the 20 others who turned up.

Amazing these games. You can sit where you like, count how many turn up, and go in free. :D

Commiserations on the result.
But I am intrigued with the venue. Aertel, stated celbridge all weekend. Is that where the game finished up. If so. (sorry, i'm getting a bit of a chubby but if so...)

Where was the ground?
Is there a club and Authority running the venue?
What did you think of access (including getting there), facilities?
I'm presuming it's a very good spot. And St. Pat's know that in the past U21mathches were played at Premier Division/ UEFA Standard Grounds.

I booked the bus for Celebridge so as far as I know that's were they went. I will see the Under 20s manager during the week and ask him

As for the result it was a great one considering due to sickness, injury and our 17s playing in Dublin that day (5 of these would be in the 20s squad) we only travelled with 10 and then proceeded to have 2 players sent off during the game

If they had travelled and presented a team sheet in time the match would have been called off because of inclement weather.
Instead what did you do. You gave Shamrock Rovers three points.

This week I read it, as in Richmond Park and I'm sorry I didn't go. ( Even to confirm it didn't take place). I understand we have played St. Pat's at home already in four different competitions now, since March.

I further understand Atlone Town have conceded 6 pts (2 x 3-0 defeats) to Shamrock Rovers because at the moment Athlone weren't able to raise a team for two fixtures at Killinarden.

Bray Wanderers 2:0 shamrock rovers

One goal in first half, one goal in second half. More moping up from Bray as they win their umpteenth game, ( I think its seven in eight).
Only caught last twenty minutes but Bray Wanderers are a quality footballing side. Miserable conditions heavy rain, steady rain they still controled the game and pushed for a third. Plucky rovers kept it going and produced one cross cum shot near the end.

To quote a Bray official, " Both sides give a good display considering the conditions."

Our recent St. Pats Ath game didn't go ahead as Pat's weren't able to field a team. Another club was mentioned but not either of the two above, i dont know if confusion over second club or another game is gone.

The Under 17s have an important cup game at the end of January in the last 16 of the Leinster Youths (U18 Cup) against Wexford Youths and don't have any games in the DDSL until then so using the Under 20s as a way of keeping them fit.

It was probably a bad game for them to be put in but i would be confident of results in the last 3 games against St Pats and 2 against Longford

I think you've won the group now? We're all but assured of going through as well.

Some good attackers Bray have; gave us trouble all night. The defenders haven't a first touch between them, but unfortunately our forwards didn't have enough to give them any sort of proper trouble all night. That penalty/goal call midway in the first half at 1-0 would have changed the game (as would walloping the ball in the net and calling the penalty afterwards), but the better team won in the end.

As would the 2nd goal that Bray scored but was given offside when he was about 3 yards onside ! Had to laugh, the UCD keeper was going mad, he kicked the ball back up to the half way line and couldn't beleive his luck when offside was given, the look on his face was just priceless ! :D

It's a really good bunch of young lads we have at that level, hopefully they can all progress to a high standard and play in our 1st team, although a few of them have already and a few have been in the match squad to.

That's right, yeah! Gas cos everyone in the ground could see the ref had given a free out (wasn't sure if it was a push or offside at first, but the linesman called it, so it must have been offside, although I don't see how it could have been). I was wondering what he was doing. All our players thought it was a goal too, I think.

It was neither a free or offside  Richie Winter doing his usual best to give his "local" league of Ireland side nothing :D But in fairness, don't know how he got it wrong, player was 2/3 yards behind the cross when it was put in, he stepped away fom the centre half and was in clear space and smashed home the header.

Yeah all the UCD players thought they had gone 2 down with their reactions, funny stuff.
