Hi Lads.

I was just wondering are ye only at the U.C.D. Bowl tempererally,
or is it permanent. If it's permanent, what are they using Belfield
Park for now ?

To give you the short answers first.

The UCD Bowl is being shared by by UCD AFC and the UCD Rugby teams. And that is intended to be the situation for the future.

Belfield Park has being identified as a location for the Belfield Innovation Park.

The arguments for the move. From an undated document, pre-2005 at least.
http://www.ucd.ie/campusdevelopment/plan/recreation_sports.html
"2005–2010 Short-Term Objectives

Relocate UCD Soccer from Belfield Park to upgraded facilities at Belfield Bowl. Belfield Bowl will be developed by increasing seating capacity to 1,500 and installing floodlighting. This will make Belfield Park available for development as part of Belfield Innovation Park....."

["A new athletics track will be built adjacent to the Sports Centre to replace the existing track adjacent to Belfield House which has reached the end of its useful life."]

"...2010–2015 Long-Term Objectives

Belfield Bowl will be fully developed with a capacity for 4,500 seated spectators...."

The president of UCD Dr. Hugh Brady won the argument that business and research into Sciences were far more lucrative then having expansive sports fields. So the Sports are in one corner of the Campus, eventually.

I don't know if its guaranteed Belfield Park will be part of the Belfield Innovation Park. There is an outside chance it maybe Student apartments.

Changes to the entrance (Gateway) of UCD at the N11 flyover. A major entry point for LoI supporters.

Or the really really short answer -

Yes, the move is permanent.

Belfield Park will be built on for student res or a new lecture/research building. It's still there for now though.
