Still going ahead here at present. Our Chairman and Secretary did an inspection at approx 1pm and it was ok. It is raining but not that heavily and at the moment the game is going ahead. Will update the situation at about 4pm.

Drogs game off too it seems.
Nightmare for Derry going all the way down there for the match to be called off

Nightmare for Cork too with their cashflow situation.
Magicme, shouldn't there be a qualified ref present for a formal inspection?

Local referee at United Park undecided , going to give it another half hour or so before making a decision. Rain has just eased now. I spoke to the groundsman at lunchtime and he thinks the pitch is very playable , only concern would be a heavy downpour around 6-7pm could scupper it. Further update as soon as I know.

Yup but you only need to call a formal inspection if you think it is needed. We have spoken with Michael Hayes and told him that we will keep an eye on the situation and have an inspection if needed but at present all is fine.
Chairman and Secretary out for another look at the minute so will know better in a few mins.

thanks for that. I had wondered who made that decision. Just never bothered to find out...

Nightmare for Derry going all the way down there for the match to be called offFinancial disaster.
I wonder will we press for it to be replayed midweek this week as we are down there again next week for the Cup game.
We could have a double header!
Hopefully Tg4 can get themselves to Sligo (or Harps...)

Sun still shining in Ballybofey, no doubts about the Harps game. At the minute, no live game on TV tonight and only two games for MNS on Monday.

Might finally put together decent highlights and analysis, rather than crap talk, but my money would be on RTE also postponing it.

the way we do things up here....if the game is cancelled itll be about 6pm when ref calls it off, and 7.30 before club annonces it, or just sends a steward over to Mooneys to tell whoever he can, and to tell the punters in Mooneys to text all their friends about it.

Could Mons -v- Fingal be the first 1st division game to be shown on MNS????
Still going ahead here. Chairman says there is no water on the pitch at all so getting a ref to inspect it would be a waste of time.

Any chance of our game being re-fixed as quickly as Limerick's was?

Raining in Sligo now, but it's not very heavy. Doesn't look like the game will be called off, but things could change.

just trying now to get a hold of anyone at Sligo Rovers to check if a pitch inspection has been done or is scheduled and if the game is on or off so I can whack something on the website.
Let's just say - it would be easier to get more than 4% out of the other Rovers than it is to get someone to answer the phone up there...

I'd say "Raiders of the Lost Archive" will be longer than usual on Monday.
"yes tonight we go back a long long long long way, to 2004 in fact and to make it look really old we're grained the picture ha ha!"
If you would like to see any game from far far far away (but dont go back as far as the eighties and before that as we've prob taped over them with GAA league games :(

Very light rain, cant see it being definatly PP unless it gets heavier, the weather was the same against UCD in June but it all went well, altough wasnt raining afternoon either.

Just spoken to a fella at the Showgrounds - and can now happily put this on the Bohemians club website:
After speaking to a Club Official at Sligo Rovers at 5:50pm this afternoon - we are happy to announce that the Sligo Rovers vs. Bohemians game in the eircom League of Ireland Premier Division DEFINITELY goes ahead as scheduled.

It's strange that the teams in the N.W Derry, Sligo and Harps) very seldom have games called off because of waterlogged pitches.
I don't think we have ever had one called off because of rain although we did have for snow twice I think.
Maybe it's because we are so used to having wet weather up here that our pitches must have better drainage systems. I know that Derry improved our years ago (early 90's) and since we have never had many problems since.
On the down side we have now 3 away games postponed, Pats twice and Cork. When they get played is anyones guess!

INfairness our game isnb't because of the pitch. Its only the 2nd game in about 10 years that we've had called off due to rain. Considering we're beside a river, thats not bad going.

Finn Harps vs. Dundalk, last game of the season in 2006 was put back for 24 hours due to a waterlogged pitch. It being the last weekend of the season, the FAI insisted that it took place on the Sunday afternoon even though the pitch was still a swamp! We won 1-0 to pip Galway for a place in the infamous "promotion/relegation" playoff against Waterford.. :o
