Brian de Salvo is the name that jumps into my head. Jimmy Magee is the best of the options above.
Just thinking of the right person for a Foreword to Just Follow The Floodlights - the new LOI book I'm doing.
Pat Dolan?
Eoin Hand (from Limerick aspect)
Jimmy Magee (though hes yet to reply
Roddy Collins (that was publishers idea)
Hmmmm?

#NeverStopNotGivingUp
Others that I could use are Billy Bagster , John Delaney, Fran Gavin, Dermot Keely, John Gill. I think the publisher wants a "name" which might matter , but I think a dyed in wool LOI manager - and I suppose not to contreversal might be best option.
De Salvo would be my choice too.
Hope you get this finished soon! Well done. As for the preface, Brian De Salvo, or, if you want to appeal to the laydays too, Richie Sadlier.
Jim McLaughlin/Turlough O Connor?
I second Con Murphy (which I was going to suggest before seeing that avvenalaf had already done so) or Éamon Sweeney (who hadn't occurred to me, but would be good too).
de Salvo's a sanctimonious ****. But he could still probably write a foreword.
I had Rico do the foreword for my book and it was fantastic.
While his locquacious verbiage might not be to everyones pleasure he effuses passion and has a definite love of the game.
"Must you tell me all your secrets when it's hard enough to love you knowing nothing."

Never thought of Richardson. Con is a good choice to, though most seem to favour De Salvo.
Magee definitely has enough knowledge to make his forward worthwhile.

Paul Doolin - do doubtin about it
i think richardson would be the best person to do a foreward followed by brian de salvo.. I wouldnt let pat dolan near it as I consider him more across the water now.
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
I suppose it trying to find someone not controversial , that might hinder me. I don't think Richardson would be controversial but then again maybe to some he is.
I think Richardson's stock has fallen recently (due to not getting a real job and pimping the Super Cup etc). You won't find a manager/ex-manager that everyone will like. Thats just how football fans work
Of course the flip of that is that 99% of those who'd buy the book would buy it regardless of who did the forward IMO

Rico is the man .... i'd go with him
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
Thats a fair point Dodge!
Con seems the obvious choice. Maybe Brian Kerr?
Kerr has proved hard to contact. I'll have to try Con as well. I'll have to make the call by midday tomorrow.
