Also, you'd probably damage sales. Dodge is right that interested people would buy it anyway, but you can only push people so far!
I think maybe using the likes of John Delaney or Fran Gavin prob makes it to "official"

Roddy Roddy Roddy or maybe even Roddy.

I'll do it if you want.

PM me your email address and i'll forward what he wrote for me, different kind of book but it may give you more ideas.
Agree with Dodge that most of us will buy it anyway, that said I was reading Dave Fannings book on holidays and nearly didn't make it past the Bono bit at the start.

Think Damien will be doing it. All I need to find out now is two small things about defunct clubs from past.
1. Is the Frankfort FC in Dublin now connected to the club that played in the first year of the free state league in 1921
2. the YMCA who have merged with Mount Merrion - are they connected to YMCA of 1921.
Very much so. I was surprised too. He left UCD after just over a year after basically having rows with everyone - basically telling everyone how to do their jobs and trying to get personally involved everywhere. He was close to being kicked out before he resigned. I've heard he's left other clubs in acrimonious circumstances too (don't know which ones though).
Yeah, I might link that post the next time someone mis-uses the word "irony"
But he is a tosser.
Edit - actually, is that irony? Can some fellow pedant help out?
With a name like that it has to be "Tom the Gom" he has been following the floodlights all over Ireland for years.

Come to think of it- when was the last time you read a good foreword? Usually they add bugger all to a book.
Just have a picture of Roddy Collins on fire instead.

I disagree, having spent a lot of time and effort getting my book together it was a huge honour when our most successful ever manager deigned to write the foreword.
It was also a huge sense of pride for me to have a man of such words validate my work and say such complimentary things.
Don't dismiss it as gibberish until you've at least got the dictionary out.
Would that include horns coming out of his head and a trident in his hand?

It was amusing the responses I got from people here, pm's and chatting to. Pat Dolan was "Christ no!" John Delaney was "Christ no!" and Roddy was a resounding " Jesus Christ no!"
I interview tons of players, managers etc for the book and when I met him at Monaghan in fairness to Roddy he was good with his time and gave me some quotes - he even gave me his take on the Dublin City saga.
I'd mentioned that practically the whole country was delighted he'd gone down with Rovers to which he reeled off certain clubs and delegates that had phoned him the week of the game saying Rovers will be out of business immediately after the game. Three sides to every story I said - yours, mine and the truth
What about the guy that plays the keyboards on Shooting Stars?
