    Fair play to Kilbane. Top class attitude and I bet the Huddersfield fans will be impressed.

    ------Westwood------
    Foley-Wilson-O'Dea-Clark
    --Gibson-----Fahey--
    Lawrence---McCarthy---McGeady
    -------Long------

    ...is probably what I'd go with. I'm surprised he hasn't called McShane up - is he injured? Not advocating it, we're just short on centre back's. Don't fancy sticking Kelly in there. Or call up O'Halloran if he's fit enough. Expect Walters to join up with the squad, he really should because he'll get at least a half-hour and probably more. If he doesn't, then another striker to get the call.

    Agree with the midfield five idea, Trap's made some murmurings of trying something different. This friendly is a no-pressure affair with a lot of new players. Seems like the ideal time. Whelan will probably be in instead of Gibson/Fahey, as pointed out, but I'd really like to see all our more creative players on the pitch at the same time.

    Would quite like to see David Forde get a cap too, just for fun.

    It's Walters 3rd kid. Fine to be there for the first, even the second but considering there was a game on, she could have done the 3rd without him.

    Who's going to be captain against Uruguay ? Whelan or Gibson must be favourites?

    I hope neither of them are starting for this one especially Whelan. Would like to see McCarthy/Wilson/Fahey maybe even give Lawrence a go in the centre.

    If we play 4-3-3 / 4-5-1, LL would be ideal on the right of the middle 3, Duff & McGeady being the out and out wide players / corner forwards.

    According to football365, Westwood and McCarthy will start - http://football365.com/story/0,17033...838474,00.html - and with Dunne, Duff, Keane and Kilbane released from the squad, as well as Doyle's injury, I reckon the team will line up like this
    Code:
    	    Westwood
    Foley	Wilson	  O'Dea	   Clark
    McGeady	Whelan(c) McCarthy Treacy
    	Walters	  Long
    Pretty sure McGeady has more caps than the rest of the team combined!

    Whelan's got a good number. Hard to believe, but Long's got 18 - easy to forget he's be around a good while.

    Would Fahey or Lawrence not start instead of Treacy? Also not sure what Walters' status is, haven't heard about him. If he isn't there, it'll be Keogh or McCarthy in behind presumably.

    I don't think Walters is coming over. Irish Times suggests Whelan may not be fit.

    Westwood

    Foley Wilson O'Dea Clark

    Lawrence Green Fahey McGeady

    McCarthy

    Long

    would be my guess at the team.

    On one reason why some senior players were released - they run the risk of being empty by then after playing so many games.
    Trap admitted to having some concern about the fitness of his most experienced players by June

    I'd be pretty confident that the back five will be;

    Westwood;
    Foley, Kelly, O'Dea, Clark;

    I'd like him to play 5 across the midfield,
    McGeady, Fahey, McCarthy, Wilson, Tracey

    and go with Long as a lone striker.

    If he does play a 4-5-1 formation, hopefully the two wide players will be encouraged to push forward when in possession to play a 4-3-3 rather than choosing to push one of the centre midfielders forward to have a 4-4-1-1. If he goes with the 4-4-1-1 formation, I think Keogh would actually be the ideal player to play behind Long.
