    RTE Rant

Home for the weekend and spotted something that hit me when watching the Angelus. RTE putting their brand on before every single sodding programme. As in when Fair City comes on, 'RTE Drama' comes up, Winning Streak, 'RTE Entertainment' and so forth. The Angelus comes on and 'RTE Religion' comes on! How in the name of God (literally) can RTE claim the Angelus as a religious programme? And put their name before it. Did RTE produce those bells? Noooo.. What next. The adverts come on. 'RTE Adverts'. This RTE rebranding job is getting on my t!ts. Network 2 is now RTE 2. 2FM. It's now RTE 2FM. RTE. Stop rebranding everything as yours dammit! And also on a separate note, is Jigs and Reels the worst ever RTE programme to ever hit the screen? Thanks for listening.

only agree with the bit about the Angelus, as all the rest actually is theirs.

Pretty low production values on the Angelus, if it is still the same still picture as I remember.

Just for you PAURO 7. Maybe this will help you unwind a bit.

Did you ever notice that in every painting of Adam & Eve, they have belly buttons. Think about that...take as long as you want.

Oh no no, you're missing out For the last few years they have had scenes of people going about daily routines and then pausing for a moment, looking upwards and reflecting. It's actually pretty nice in a meditative kind of way. They've changed the personnel a few times too so I wouldn't quibble too much with RTE branding it as there is some time put into it. And as Mr. Burns showed in The Simpsons religion and commerce can be mixed.

I could only find one video of it on YouTube, not the best production of the bunch at all but you get the idea -

One of the predominant features is that they always seem to have a lot of foreigners partaking, probably trying to somehow be more representative of other faiths or something, if that were possible.

Yeah, I can't believe you got in there a minute before me too to compound my shame. Everyone's gonna think I'm the boring one and you're the funny one. Damn it I hate the truth.

Still, at least my faith can help me through this while you bask in desecrating-induced bliss

It was RTE 2 before it was Network 2, so all they've done is revert to the original name.

when my nephew was three or four he'd stop whatever he was doing when the angelus came on (or when he heard chiming/ tolling bells for that matter) and stare off into the middle dustance like an idiot for a while.

    Sweet!

Redemption is one of life's great mysteries. One moment you're down in the dumps regretting the errors of your ways, seeing no future. Then, all of a sudden, a kind soul assists a new beginning, new hope, befallen woes forgotten
