Cool Looking forward, the past is behind us......

OK, Ollie has gone. Let's get on with what we have.
What do people think our chances are for the coming season?
    Placing in the League?
    A cup run?
Outside of winning the treble, what do we realistically expect of the coming season.
I would think a top 3 placing and at least the cup-semis is realistic
    and achieveable...........

Anyway I'm off for a dirty weekend in Amsterdam, beer, blow and blowjobs........have a good one!...............

With the current squad? more of the same i think....mid table( 5th)

but with a midfielder( Reynolds?) a winger (woods?) and lets face it most importantly a top finisher who can solve our goalscoring problems, along with CPOB coming on a bit.....who know we could challenge for Europe.

Lets not kid ourselves....we are a long way off

If we get Woods and sign a proven striker, we may have an outside chance of winning the cup. I feel that the league is still out of our reach, with a bit of luck 2nd or 3rd is the best we could hope for.

I think 5th or 6th is likely unless some huge changes are made. We need at least 3 new first team players, 4 or 5 new squad players and a new manager- otherwise I fear mid-table will be our destination for some time to come.

    Thumbs down

Mid table & avoiding a rlegation battle looks good at this stage.

I can't 1 or 2 new star players saving us a this stage.

I think Colin O;Brien & Buckley were rumoured in the paper to be moving. We've lost so many squad players over the last year that we need new players just to hold our own. Remember there won't be any Galway for 9 points next season.

I think Liam Murphy is on the slippery slope & is alienating more players & fans as the months go by. I can not see him in charge by start of season after next. At least the next seasons a short one.

If Gunters gets off his ass and get the home form sorted we'll have mid to 3rd spot. If friday football goes ahead it gives us the advantage the dublin clubs have had for years, making the visting team travell hours same day.
    It's only just begun...............
If the last 21 years were class, here's looking forward to the next 21 years. It is our time

Not only the travel but we can get rid of the disadvantage of playing catch up. With the dub clubs playing on Fri. City ,even though with a game in hand, were always seen as being behind and needing to catch up.At least now our points will register at the same time and things won't look worse then they are. Assuming things won't be worse then they are now!God forbid

Yeah, things aren't good and I don't see Murphy being able to change that.

A battle for a European spot is possible if City sign two or three quality players and purchase Gunther a book about football tactics.

I might as well get it in before Éanna or Neil.

How about "An Idiot's Guide to Football Tactics"? I can hear the groans now!

It's the same almost every close-season: we need a decent striker but never manage to find one. Then we start the season outplaying a lot of teams without outscoring them. We badly need a striker cos City in consistent goalscoring form can win the League - but that consistency is about as likely as Ramblers being promoted.

Realistically, who bloody well knows? Anything can happen in the Cup as Dundalk this season and Bray a few seasons back proved. 3rd is probably about the best League placing we can hope for. As regards the Cup, I'll be wildly optimistic here and say we're going to win it!!!

Wouldn't that be a bit complicated for Liam?

Now now, he's already mastered the "Long Ball Out of Defence" chapter. Next term he'll be studying "Attacking Wing-backs - The Roberto Carlos Way" with the boys in Stiophan Niopha.
