I take it you're from the North? Congrats. I quite like the North cos they are also Irish (don't start) and I have family up there.

Seems better off here than in World Football.
BBC Newsline was hilarious today. It was the top story and they must have shown the goal about 6 times and talked about it for about 10 minutes. They even had a bit about Lawrie Sanchez upstaging President McAleese in Belfast today with wee kids going mad looking for autographs.
do you mean this goal ?Originally Posted by holidaysong

Great result for NI. Delighted for Jackie Fullerton because he travels the world commentating and praying for the win and he is always humble. If NI never, ever qualified for another World Cup, they can always inspire the lesser nations to beat the self-proclaimed World Champions, England. The English loves to show Geoff Hurst's goal against West Germany, now, you guys can show David Healy's goal against England. Pity Austria dropped so many points because it would have been Auf Wiedhersen to the famous Poms. Sven would be poker faced anyways, if England won the World Cup.
Great result !!
I was trying to get a ticket, but no luck this time 400 GBP (45% of my month's wage) is just too much for 90 minutes of football. OK, I paid more already for concerts of the same duration, but then it comes with a travel and thus it's a little holiday. 400 GBP for a game played 5 minutes walk from my front door ? No.
I went to see it in a pub, great atmosphere. The chants were grand: There's only one team in Britain, We're still British Champions, He's fat, he' Scouse, he'll rob your fecking house, he's Wayne Rooney...
The goal was a moment of pure magic. The explosion of joy was very intense. This is why I prefer supporting small teams rather than good teams who often win: the one time you win the game your joy is so intense, whereas the Brazils and France's of this world fall into routine after a win... (PS: not a NI fan, I stick with Norway, but of course sympathising with both ROI and NI)
Afterwards the city was very hectic. Fans were dancing in the streets in green shirts and Northern Irish flags, cars were driving through town making noise, the pubs were packed, and this continued for hours. NI celebrated like they had won the World Cup.
Now hopefully a victory vs Wales as well, then Our Wee Country ends before Wales in the group... Hopefully I'll be able to get a ticket again then...
glad to hear you enjoyed yourself gerrit , what pub did you go to to watch the match ? the bot ? i seen tv pictures from there and the place totally erupted when healy scored , it looked crazy in there.
the cheapest that i heard anybody buyinjg a ticket for on matchday was £225 gbp and the most i heard anybody pay was £500 gbp so dont feel to bad about not getting a ticket .
we on WWW.ourweecountry.co.uk got sent two brief video clips from a friend of ours called jurek from poland who was at the poland v wales game on wed night, he said that all the fans in the stadium upon hearing that we were beating the english stayed for 20 mins after the final whistle just to hear the final score , he said there were great celebrations all round the stadium which resulted in cries of "northern ireland , northern ireland" coming from both sets of fans .
that is what football is all about "in my opinion" ...

btw. good luck to r.o.i. in qualifying.
I was not in the Bot, it was a pub along Lisburn Road. I stayed till 7.30 pm around Windsor, hoping for ticket prices to drop. So then I did not have the time to make it to The Bot before kick-off
I live just in between Lisburn Rd and Queens University, so I was in the middle of all the celebrating. It was crazy, but nice to see how a simple ball game can fill people's hearts with joy and fuel their national pride...
What do you think is the best way for me to get a ticket vs Wales? Is there a regular ticketsales going on via the IFA, or should I try second-hand tickets straight away?
as far as i know the game is a sell-out , tickets for all our games in this campaign have been like gold-dust mate. it wont be easy getting one " but it will be slightly easier than getting one for the england game" my best advice to you would be to get a northern irealnd shirt on you & stand at the top of tates avenue on the day of the game with a message written on a bit of card asking for a spare .Originally Posted by Gerrit
there may be the odd ticket floating around on owc.co.uk but those tickets will very likely only be sold to patrons with high posting figures on the forum , i was lucky enough to get a spare england ticket for my mate via that medium "for face value" last monday , he was over the moon and after the game hugged me and told me that he is forever in my debt for giving him the chance to see owc's greatest victory of his life.
you could always keep an eye out on the TICKET SPARE section of owc.co.uk & you might get lucky " I DID" .
good luck anyway mate , GREEN & WHITE ARMY .
BTW. glad to see you picked belfast over glasgow , i hope my advice helped.

Try the Harbour Bar on Ann street before the game also. Maybe worth a visit the night before too.
as far as i know the harbour bar was closing down after the england game , they had been due to close before that but they stayed open a little longer to get the extra trade from those couple of days.Originally Posted by gspain
I guess second-hand prices won't be as high vs Wales than vs England, so let's say I'm prepared to offer 50-80 GBP for a ticket Should do the trick hopefully.
BTW, one of the English fans I met in a bar said the Welsh are legally entitled to prefer a sheep over a woman... They would put the two behind legs in their boots to prevend them from running away I can't believe it's legal, but I'd still want to ask... I mean, if it's legal in certain states of the USA I guess it can be a small leak in the Welsh law as well
If it is legal, I can see the Finn Harps fans very jealous right now
