    1916 - Seachtar na Cásca

Anyone watch this last night? A new series that does a biographical documentary on all 7 signatories of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic.

Last night was on Thomas Clarke. An interesting show, even if you've read all about it before. It really portrayed Clarke as the catalyst behind the Rising (justifiably). Irish history could have turned out so much differently if he has decided to stay over in the USA rather than return home at the rebirth of the IRB.

I don't know who will be covered next week but looking forward to it.

Last night's episode can be watched on the TG4 website for anyone who is interested.

Very good show so far. Connolly last night, Plunkett next week. I can't say I know much about Plunkett or Ceannt so it's great that way. The only worry I'd have is that in an attempt to highlight the importance of each signatory they don't reduce Pearse to being an overexcited puppet - looked like that last week anyway.

Last night's episode reminded me of The Magnificent Seven - recruiting a bunch of misfits and ex-cons.

I haven't seen them all (the repeat times were never consistent, which was pretty annoying), but they have the series out on DVD I think. It really was excellent, without any of the PC bs you'd get if it was an RTE production.

Yeah I have to say I really enjoyed it. I saw all seven and it gives a good insight especially into some of the lesser known signatories. The acted scenes weren't bad for a small budget. The only criticism I'd have of the format was that it was a little repetitive (we saw the meeting about the withdrawal of the Volunteers seven times), but good series overall.
