With twenty gone, Shane Nolan got a yellow for a pull-back out at the touchline. A minute later, Graham got under a Cobh free which carried with the wind but it went just wide of the post. Cobh's strongest line seemed to be their forwards and another cross from Cobh's left was met by a Cobh attacker stretching right at the far post but he just failed to steer it home. On 25 minutes, Skelly beat his first marker and was taken down by the second just inside the box for a peno. Danny sent Hallahan the wrong way for 2-0 to the Youths. With ten to go, Daragh ran onto a throw by the Youths but Hallahan saved with his legs. A minute later, Waters for Cobh headed wide at a corner when it looked easier to score. With eight to go, the useful Donoghue did damage down Wexford's right and his cross was eventually prodded home by Waters for 2-1. Ben Ryan then had a free scooped over his own crossbar by a Cobh defender before Danny was taken down just outside the box by the last Cobh defender which could have been a red but was given as a yellow. Lasty then met the resulting free with a close-range header and 3-1 to the Youths at half-time and looking comfortable enough for the three points.
