    Serie A - 5 games to go

    http://www.soccerway.com/national/italy/first

Inter 4 points ahead of Roma.

Interesting battle for the 4th CL spot. Fiorentina currently 4 points ahead of Milan with Samp and Udinese close as well.

Interesting to see if the new italian PM has an effect on Milans results

I can not see Milan getting into the CL, they are not playing as good as they could be, but next season, They will be signing a good few players.

Thought I use this thread instead of starting another.

There was a bit on Swedish TV last night about promotion to Serie A and especially the prospect of Albinoleffe being promoted. Albinoleffe was formed by the merger of two clubs Albino and Leffe, two small village clubs in Northern Italy. The home stadium doesn't meet Serie B standards so they play their home games in Atalanta's home ground in Bergamo. Their average attendance is 2-3,000. The top paid player at the club earns €150,000 a year. All the rest of the squad is at or under €100,000 a year.

Whilst one lad was saying it's great to see a club with so little resources doing so well, another pointed out that it also highlights the poor standard of Italian league football at this point in time. Which I think is very true. Italian football has suffered from recent scandals not just off-the-field but very much on-the-field as well and hence the arrival of clubs like Albinoleffe on the scene.

It'll be interesting to see if they get promoted (currently second) and how they get on next season.

    LAST WEEKEND

    Inter won
    Roma won

Fiorentina drew with Samp last weekend.
    Milan & Udinese won.

    With 3 games to go:
    Inter 4 clear of Roma.
Juve clear in 3rd and qualified for CL next year.

Fiorentina 2 points ahead of Milan for 4th place.

Inter lose the derby and Roma easily pick up three points at Sampdoria. Fiorentina slip up at Caligari so Milan move into the CL spot for the first time this season (I think). Gap at the top down to three points now. Inter should wrap things up with a home win against Siena next week though.

Well Inter blew it against Siena yesterday and now hold a single point lead over Roma going into the last game of the season

Inter doing their best to blow it. You'd expect them to win against Parma on the last day but they're battling relegation so it might not be so easy. Milan lost against Napoli so they're out of the Champions' League next year unless Fiorentina mess up against a safe Torino.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

Inter beat Parma 2-0 in the last game to win Serie A.

Fiorentina scored in the 73rd minute to win and clinch 4th place and the last CL place over Milan.

Delighted. I love it when bigger teams miss out on the CL.
