I downloaded all the episodes years ago so shockingly don't own the dvd box set. My ex had the box set so again I never bought it. And at that stage Netflix existed.

I bought the box-set for my 18yo brother last year for his birthday and he loves it. The funniest thing he asked me though after watching it one of the first times was "When are they gonna mention anything about the fact that he's called George Michael?"

The genius of that show is encapsulated in that question. They set up so many jokes and just let them hang there without any reference or reaction. It's wonderful.

    And Tobias' innuendos... Sigh.

    Oh Tobias, you blow hard!

    Of course.

Though initially it was only a dry run and now I'm afraid I have somewhat of a mess on my hands.

Finished Boardwalk Empire Season 3 earlier in the week. Got to say I was slightly underwhelmed - so long setting up the finale, and then they didn't make as much of it as they could've. Really could've done with a few more episodes imo.

We started Game of Thrones (season 1) as a follow up. Was an interesting start, going to persist.

Given all the advice here, I was going to restart Breaking Bad last night, but got distracted by the Danny Baker show on BBC4, and then it was time for Charlie Booker so it'll have to wait...

    I don't get his attraction. He's obnoxious.

    Zipping through Seinfeld.

Finding the first 3 seasons somewhat laboured, though a lot of that stems I'm sure from its age.

I think with Newman and the additions of quirky recurring characters like Banya et al we'll be back to what I remember of it being absolute genius.

Brooker is far from obnoxious. He is caustic and cantankerous and a lot of other c-words, but his targets are very well chosen, as still probably best exemplified by his withering commentary on the legions of internet mongs who queued up to cyberbully the (admittedly totally vacuous) wannabe pop princess Rebecca Black and her atrocious "Friday Friday" video on youtube.
Missed the first of this lot, but the last Black Mirror was some outstanding television.

just finished Series 4. Have to agree with your summary. Although the last sentence screamed in the last episode was quite cool, i felt that that particular storyline had a pretty unsatisfactory conclusion. Ditto the Thomas and Pandora and the Emily and Naomi stoylines. All tied together in about 10 minutes at the end was a big let down...

I also hate being left to determine your own ending by the writers. It seems to me to be a bit of a cop-out. Does anyone know why there were only 8 episodes for S4? Another one or two would have tied things together very nicely...

I still really enjoyed the second generation though. Probably a 7/10 overall. Looking forward to the new generation...

It's just getting better and better. I forgot just how funny the "Pilot" episodes were. Wonderful.

Watched the first two episodes of Homeland last night and really like how it's taking shape, so think I'll stick with it. Have heard positive things about it.

Sharp drop in quality? I'm up to episode nine of the first season now and have notice the suspense has suffered with the narrative becoming slightly more convoluted.

Yeah, I noticed that drop off too - just about when it was renewed? Second season is only ok overall, with some (imo) really annoying bits that wrecked my head, but then it kept on doing just enough for me to watch the next episode. I really fear for season 3 though.

SPOILER: Aye, the whole dysfunctional-to-perfect turn-around in the family dynamic (despite Brody beating the **** out of Mike, tensions that riddled the relationships in the earlier episodes, Brody claiming to Carrie he couldn't live with his wife, et cetera), occurring simultaneously with our own lessening of suspicions of Brody subsequent to his cabin "interrogation" by Carrie/the Walker revelation, along with Brody's fairly extreme (implausible?) character transformation from sinister enigma to all-American nice-guy, all seemed a bit soft and far-fetched for me, although the end of episode eight re-injected a surprise that will, no doubt, keep me glued. Might try finish off the season this eve.

In true Lost fashion they had a potential corker of a story but when they got renewed they realised "shoite, we have to stretch this out for next season and beyond". Season two is just mental and ruins it in imo.

Boss(Staring Kelsey Grammer) starts on More 4 this Thursday 21st March at 11pm. Heard good stuff about this
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1833285/?ref_=sr_3

It clashes with the start of season 5 of Breaking Bad on TG4 at 11:05pm, so guess I'll have to record one

Made it through the run, mentioned it earlier on the thread. Very different from his character in Frasier or in anything else he's done. A little overdone with the shock and intrigue, some solid acting in it and worth a watch. But like most of the US dramas on FOx HBO etc, tried to ramp up the figures with sex and violence. It's worth looking at but doesn't compare with House of Cards (for example).
