Having viewed on the FAI site the proposed development of the league for the forthcoming seasons, interested in proposed Conferance suggestion (a national senior non-league division). Reading between the lines it would appear to comprise of Premier league reserve teams, Regional League selections and ambitous junior/intermediate clubs. Though would give avenue to election to the league should a "club" win it they would be invovled in play-off with bottom Division 1 club, to be introduced I believe 2009.
On the Wikipedia page on Letterkenny Rovers see they are an interested club, does anyone know of other clubs that are considering this new league. Or indeed suggestions of clubs that could compete.
Couple of questions though, could it hamper the proposed relaunch of a Connaught Senior League, or is this relaunch part of the criteria for a Conferance. Secondly could this spell the begining of the end for some league sides, for those who continually occupy the botttom position, for if they lost out in a play-off would they have the impetus, finance and support to regain their league position. Though it was finance see what happened to Omagh Town in the north when they finished bottom of the Irish League and relegation.
Anybody want to offer their thoughts.
