If you ask the right questions you might get the wrong answers!!

Questions above at least some can be answered without going to BA. Why was Hoban allowed to leave? Manager outlined his plans for 2024, didnt sit well with Hoban, he decided to leave - could have been resolved financially with new ownership but damage done on a football level between manager and player, done now and move on. Why are players still needed 4 weeks out from the season start? Change of ownership restricted recruitment when budgets were up in the air and yes its a case of playing catch up. Why was the bar closed? Previous ownership run down the level of staff and stock and initially there is need to (re)build volunteers/staff to give a dig out and get someone in to oversee things on at least an interim basis. Its not just about pulling pints, its also about palatable pints from a bar thats been out of use for a while. No shop, no soup, no tayto.....probably cause a lot of such stuff just gets done by volunteers, if a club is a miserable place to be the volunteers, even the stalwarts can take a step back with a wait and see on the new owner. Next game bar oopen and fully stocked, tayto and all and if not then yup, time to ask why.

Again its a case of wait and see if BA's leadership will make a difference but in the time he has had since buying in, I reckon there was a lot more pressing issues to deal with, Hoban, squad recruitmet/retention in general, licencing stuff, exemptions pending eg grant applications. Getting to know staff and volunteers and appropriate delegation. Convincing investors to buy in etc etc.

A lot of the outstanding issues would be under the remit of a general manager, COO or whatever other fancy title. Do we have one? A more pressing question imo if so is what have they been doing to prepare for a new season irrespective of ownership - basic tidy up of the ground, having the stalwart volunteers on soup duty - doesnt or didnt need the new owners endorsement. Unless so many people have stepped back that a major effort is needed to reconnect with volunteers and for some micro managing a few old egos to get them back.

There are questions that answer themselves, ones that wont get an answer (yet) and ones that ye couldnt be bothered trying. Time has been against the club and new owner, not for the first time for Dundalk FC in recent seasons, its a tad too early to expect widespred fixes to the broad number of supporter gripes. If Im about come the 2024 close season I will lead from the front with all the difficult questions + some!!

Story in the Independent today claiming the go ahead about to be given for redevelopment of dalymount pk. Not before time, and hopefully this protracted project can see some actual work done-Planning in Ireland, and Dublin in particular is such a snakepit, and symptomatic of the grubby political system we have here.
Presume bohs would go to tolka while development is done?

Theyll pay through the nose for the RDS and would be lost in it from an atmosphere point of view.
Tolka makes sense plus think of the CO2 created with all the Bohs fans traveling over to the southside compared to walking to Tolka

Id imagine that would be a costly stadium to rent. Also playing football on a rugby pitch is never ideal. It would be a novelty as a away fan.

Throw up a handful of temporary stands in the Phoenix Park. Be grand.

There was a rumour flying about that Bohs had agreed it with pats but that was shot down quickly at the time by the pats club president who said that the clubs hadn’t even spoken about it

Don't see Tolka happening at all especially with how awkward the fallout around the groundshare was.

DCU took out a 40 year lease for it in 2021 so I would imagine it probably is alright with Bohs using their facilities already for the training ground.

It could work them. Id say they could move the Mono stand over there aswell.

Would need a good bit of remedial work for Morton Stadium to be viable. I can't imagine they would get a certificate for many more than a thousand for there

Yeah they do actually. Wasn't the Save Tolka park campaign directed at the councils plan with the ground for housing.

Seems there plenty of plans to fix up Morton in the next few years with €3m already spent on it by DCU.

The problem is there's only about 800 seats in Morton. Unless that drastically increases I doubt it's an option. I'd say Tolka is still the plan since it is still owned by the council. Even if ownership changes hands I can't imagine Shels turning down the money they would get that can be used to improve Tolka or their squad. Has there been any updates about the purchase of Tolka since Shels has been sold or is that dead in the water now?

Looks a bit better now tbf...If that terrace opposite the main stand has toilet/ catering facilities then it isn't as bad as I remember

Big problem with Tolka is the pitch. The ground staff would have huge issues having a game every week on what can be a difficult enough pitch at the best of times.

They already have that with the women's team playing there tbf but another team would make it even worse definitely.
