Has to be a typo, must mean 1952
Impressive and highlights how much Oriel among a few others have changed little from around 1982 money spinning European nights and all. Partnership with MFA has been great for Cork City FC in the grand scheme of things.

Turners cross is the best ground in the country imo. With a decent stand on each side it makes all the difference. If every club could have something like that it would transform the leagues reputation. The talk would then toward whats happening on the pitch rather than people using facilities as a excuse (a pretty valid one) not to go to games.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!

Have to disagree with you on that. Pat Dolan told me every team in the league needs to have a 20,000-seater ready to go.

I agree totally, pity its in Cork which is no intended slur on Cork and rather that as so far away from Dublin it wont serve as an alternative to Tallaght

That is the Turner Cross I remember. I can still recall standing on those grassy banks and wtaching as Tom McNulty scored his league winning goal over 20 years ago.

The owners of that house in the back right corner really must like yellow.

That's the Horseshoe Bar, and possibly hasn't been cleaned never mind painted since the first picture judging by its distinct aroma.

Of all the away grounds I've been to, Turners Cross is the best followed by The Showgrounds. Tolka 10 years ago was good too but like other stadiums in Dublin are badly in need of upgrading.

Tallaght is far better than Showgrounds in fairness, even if only 2 stands.

Visited Athlone Town stadium for first time during the week. That stand is just about perfect for LOI clubs

What's the story with the Ballybough stand at Tolka, is it condemned? Haven't seen anyone there for yonks but it looks grand.

That's probably got more to do with Shels than the stand though

It's not open to the public and up close you can see why. Really is in a poor state

I'd agree with you to an extent but only having 2 stands makes the place a bit open and soulless

Certainly open but the Showgrounds only has 3 and none of them as good as Tallaght's main stand.

Not knocking it either, it's a fine LOI ground but I think Tallaght is 2nd behind Turner's Cross.

That idea was first pushed back in the Pat Dolan days - may have been an idea before then but I remember him talking up the idea (as only he can!)

It's still an interesting idea but - still - money & dealing with the County Council are the main problems

Trophy Manager - online football managment game - I like it - I think I'm getting obsessed with it though.
