Dermot Keely is expected to be confirmed as the new manager of Irish Premier League side Newry City this week, just days after leading Dublin City to promotion from the eircom League First Division.
Keely oversaw the Vikings’ play-off victory over his former club Shamrock Rovers on Friday night.
Dublin chief executive Ronan Seery had been hoping to keep Keely at the club for their return to the top flight, but his hopes are set to be dashed by Newry.
Keely, who guided Rovers and Dundalk to league crowns and also had spells in charge of, among others, Shelbourne, Kildare County and Derry City, was at Lakeview Park on Saturday afternoon to watch Newry’s Carnegie Premier League victory over Loughgall.
He is set to be unveiled as new manager at the Marshes on Tuesday.
