Shocking, he was only 77! For some reason I thought he was ancient. A really odd character but somehow likeable.
Wow!!!

He was never the same after taking bad from eating an oyster and contacting an exotic disease a few years back which hung around him til he died.

Richard Briers, yesterday.
The Good Life was, erm, good and all, but you couldn't not like Ever Decreasing Circles.
Very good actor though, I remember an excellent turn as an unexpectedly really nasty piece of work in Morse.

Briers freely admitted that the fags are what were going to kill him.
Only saw at the weekend when reading the Sunday Indo obits (as opposed to looking at the bottom of the Championship Table), that Seán Óg Ó Ceallacháin died. The voice of GAA for over 50 years and was even broadcasting on RTE Radio until he was 87! The Bruce Forsyth of RTE ? Perhaps not but certainly was one of the media's main man for the GAA.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
Con Martin, aged 89.
Absolute legend, when that word is bandied about far too lightly these days, of the Irish game.
Played at Drums, Dundalk, wore the blue shirt from 1956-59, and managed Shels after. Played for Leeds and Villa, and both Ireland and the North. Mentioned in a Dubliners song even!

Still hard to believe he's gone. 15 years today. RIP Dermot.
Only famous person whose death actually shook me when I heard Dave Fanning announce it on 2TV.

Uncle Monty (Richard Griffiths) R.I.P http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21973505
But it was his role as the predatory Uncle Monty in Withnail And I - which has become of one of the biggest cult classics in British cinema history - which made him a fan favourite.
In a message to his co-star on Twitter, the actor Richard E. Grant said: "My beloved Uncle Monty Richard Griffiths died last night. Chin-Chin my dear friend.
