    RTE radio Coverage -

In response to a email about getting the show on FM instead of MW which isn't very easily available on small personal radio's ,I got the following reply

"If you call 01 208 3434 - the more people who call our information
office with that request, the more likely it would be to happen"

The more people that call the line ,the better

They told me a few months ago that it wouldn't be happening. Interesting e-mail they give you. I'll be sure to do it when I return home. However I urge anyone who reads this please to call and harrass them. It's frustrating for those of us further afield than Ireland or Britain to rely on aertel as they only put FM on the internet. Instead of eL we get Farm Weekly and the likes.

Ha! Funny it should be brought up. I've been staring at aertel for half an hour thinking UCD were losing only to discover we equalised half an hour ago and they tell me just this second.

Use xscores.com it's faster than Aertel who still don't have full time at the Brandywell.

spread the word on other club forums too.the more people that call the better .If theres enough calls they'll act , "Its the rte information office, and they log all complaints / praise / comments etc about programmes"

Cheers Slash. I'll try it out next time. I wwas using livescore too, but they seem to rely on aertel as as soon as they credit our goal from 30 mins ago so did they.

To change from MW would take the eL away from ex-pats in Britain but I'd hope they could get it through the net instead. It would be in the interests of the league to be in short wave instead of medium. Easier access and accessible to more people as every radio (car etc.) has FM at minimum.

Funny PS you just reminded me - before I got Sky digital I had the old analogue thingy and one could get German TV channels on it. I saw the Bohs/Kaiserlautern game live on one of them- couldn't get over it when Crowe scored and Bohs won it.
RTE aertel had no score for ages after the goal went in so I rang Aertel to give them an update - they said they were waiting for news on the game from Reuters.
To be fair to them, they updated the score straight away but why had they not other sources of information?

Wait a minute, what's with the auld fart crack?

Just messing Uncle Hamish. Seriously though if you feel bored anytime give them a buzz please. You'd be helping me out.

That's quite a funny story though. Really shows the lack of thought behind these things. One of my fellow UCD supporters said on another thread they announced we had drawn 0-0 with Bohs final score when in fact we had lost 6-0. Another genius added Hibernians of Malta to the European scores with the British and Irish clubs on aertel last week as they must have mistook them for Hibs of Edinburgh.

Yep, saw that PS - I remember Tony O'Donoghue at an FAI CUp draw after Fairview Rangers were drawn against a Dublin side - a real Dublin derby we have there, he said.
Tony has no excuse , he played football/soccer up to few years ago in Dublin.

Didn't RTE take some kind of action to prevent Newstalk broadcasting Dublin eL games?
I'm thinking they can only do that if they have exclusive rights from the league.
Now how much did those rights cost I wonder???

Their coverage is excellent to be fair. Most of the radio lads no their stuff. People like Con Murphy, Adrian Eymes etc. are all well up to date. #

Plus the Brian de Salvo piece is always interesting. Pity the shower in the TV department arent giving these guys the same opportunities.

All those guys are excellent. Why can't we get these guys on telly rather than listen to Peter Collins, Alan Matthews, Paul Doolin & Pat Dolan etc.

Are you confusing FM with Short-Wave (SW)? They are very different frequency bands. Very few modern radios come with Short-Wave unless you're specifically looking for a SW radio.

Maybe they could change the EL to FM and LW and put the farming (or whatever) on the MW.

You're right, I am. Sorry. Good suggestion.
