Back in action after our " 2nd midseason break" the boys in green inspired by the return of "The Rock" Jon Carey took the battle to Exeter from the 1st whistle.
Karl McGee playig on the right of midfield continued his love / hate realtionship with ref Derek Russell after taken exception with an ott challange by the Exeter Full back, gave his own retribution verbally which didn't go down to well with the ref !!!

The Irish were on top in the first half with Mick Coffey and Timmy Nagle controlling the centre of midfield, the centre halves Donnie Mullin and Dave Hestor soaked up anything the came their way and if they missed anything it was taken care of by goalie Darren Nolan. The full backs Jon Carey / Paddy McGee playing the ball out of defence using Shane Roache on the left and Karl McGee effectively, both forwards Liam Kelly and our Columbian import Mauricio Restrepo had chances to put us 1-0 before half time. Mick Coffey also came close with a couple of long range efforts.

0-0 at half time no problems with our performance keeping it tight and not giving the ball away, started the 2nd half and the goal eventually came Mauricio was put through rounded the keeper 1-0 Ireland with his 1st goal in the green shirt of his adopted country !!! Phil O' Dwyer came on to replace Karl McGee and despite a flurry of corners near the end Exeter couldn't penerate the Irish Defence. Just before the final whistle Mauricio was through again but the keeper had a bit of luck and kept it out. 1-0 Ireland !!!
